I thought I wrote it in here, but I guess not. Rosaline is blonde and Jack thinks of her hair as gold. Sometimes liquid gold, sometimes a veil of fine gold... He's a little dramatic about everything, and that gets bumped up when it's about Rosaline.
I didn't turn to look at her. Seeing the waves of her hair drape over her shoulders and roll down her back would just make it painful that I couldn't fall back into the bed and kiss her sweet lips. We had been married too many years to be considered sweet newlyweds anymore, but she just became even more beautiful to me over the years. I wasn't likely to ever understand why she thought attaching herself to a fool like me was a good choice.

The village that doesn't have a name also doesn't have a mayor, or anything official. Jack usually ends up managing things when a manager is needed.

My little lantana has recently gotten very excited about the days getting longer again, so it was time to do a little trimming.

These kinds of responses are pretty much a mental reflex for Jack. Especially when he thinks the person he's responding to is so serious simply as a performance.
I have been informed that you are most likely to be the man to discuss a situation with. Your name is Jack, yes?" "No, just Jack. Jack Yes moved away a while ago." Master Silverthorne didn't show any sign of appreciating my humor, so I moved on.

I didn't end up filling the whole weirdbook last year, so I'll keep going this year.

Nothing gets tossed out for not being what I wanted it to be. Everything I do in the book gets shared.

It's not a very big table, but it's in a small cottage.
It didn't take long to run into the end of the table, knock over a basket of my wife's crafting materials, almost trip over my own naked feet, and swing the door wide open. "What in this world and the Other is going on? The sun's barely awake, and I wasn't!"

I don't have the actual word, but Jack probably has a couple of rolls of canvas in his shed.
I had a shed behind the cottage where I kept various tools and supplies for great adventures like helping someone catch a horse that had run loose, or climbing up on a roof to do some mending work.

Sometimes I focus on the ball and watch how things change as it rolls.

Snapping pictures and finding out where the ball was when I look at them later is fun.

Instead of a mechanical lock, I'll share the description of locking onto something.
Once she found it, she glanced at me for a second before it looked like she had set her focus hard on the direction she was taking. It was like seeing a dog get their nose, eyes, and ears all set on something in the distance that only they know is there.

Jack knows when not to push, even if it is with a friend's best interests in mind.
Without looking at me again or relaxing any muscle in her body, Ruby said, "You'll have to tell them, Jack." She was calm, firm, and kept her voice low. "Let's don't rush ahead on --" "Tell them." Ruby is a waitress at the tavern, but her people hide the nature of their existence from the village. The masking is considered beneficial to everyone at this point.
I can't tell you too much because we have reasons for hiding. We're not a threat, but there's a long history of people not understanding that. Everybody feels safer and happier when they aren't carrying a ridiculous fear of the neighbor eating somebody's children during the next full moon.

"House" and "home" aren't automatically the same, but friends having dinner together and sharing secrets because they feel safe to do so sounds like home to me.
Rosaline and Ruby had built a friendship over the past few years. It wasn't my wife, though, who told me Ruby's secret. Ruby had given me that information herself while she was having dinner with us in our house one evening. What Rosaline had done was speak for me to assure Ruby I could be trusted.

I don't have the word "resolution", but Jack's got the vibe.
Our village isn't big at all. Hell, it doesn't even have a name. The tax collector who comes from the palace every year just has us listed as "small village near Glimmervale", and Glimmervale's not as fancy as the name might sound. We're all neighbors here, and we know each other pretty well. Well enough that some of us might wish we knew less of some folks, but we help where we can. Over the years, I had wandered into the role of being the main guy folks go to for help with things. If I was needed a couple of miles down the road to help chase a wolf back into the woods, then that's where I would be.

My character is seeing a therapist and there is an excerpt from her journal in the story.
