Keeping an eye on the lies and machinations of the tech bros, broligarchs, Joe Brogans, and every other weird bro causing harm to society as a result of their fragile masculinity
Beyond the 'Musk charity gives to entities he controls' part, I feel like any article talking about him making a "record" donation amount should include the fact that HE WAS REQUIRED BY LAW TO DO THIS BECAUSE HE DIDN'T GIVE ENOUGH IN PREVIOUS YEARS.

From the NYT last year:

I was intrigued when Peter Thiel, during his recent Antichrist lectures, dumped on Marc Andreessen.

The pair seem very aligned - they're both neoreactionary, accelerationist billionaires who support Curtis Yarvin and Balaji Srinivasan.

But I saw this article today, which might provide the reason:

This got lost a little in the Marjorie Taylor Greene resignation video, but she basically told QAnon people that there was no "plan to save the world" - a QAnon slogan. (Important, because she started out as a QAnon celebrity).

"There is no plan to save the world or a 4D chess game being played."

The tech bros are worried about the 'Great Confiscation', and looking for exit options:

"They're coming for your bags", Jason Calacanis warned in the latest All In Podcast, before going on to discuss leaving America and Balaji Srinivasan's Network State.

A reminder that the 'Technate of America' envisioned by Technocracy Inc in the 1930s - of which Elon Musk's grandfather was a high-placed leader - believed they should take over Greenland, Canada, Panama, and Venezuela.

"World's first potential trillionaire has killed 600,000 people, including 400,000 children" is the only headline that anyone should ever read about Elon Musk
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

In a field of really awful tech bros, Karp is perhaps the worst.

Okay, maybe it's Thiel, but Karp ain't far off.
Whatever you do, don’t ask Palantir’s Alex Karp: “How worried are you about the Nick Fuentes wing of MAGA?”

Hack the hyperstition!
What will accountability look like for billionaires (or trillionaires) who try to overthrow our democracy?

I have some ideas.

Let’s imagine futures that aren’t fascist tech dystopias.

Let’s hack the “hyperstition.”

My conversation with @wajali.bsky.social

The TRILLIONAIRE Technocrats Are REELING
Billionaires are gaining all the wealth, Musk might become the first trillionaire, and Trump continues grifting, but the majority is fighting back & waking up to the broligarchy's techno-fascist plot.

The rich now have an unbelievable sense of entitlement. If you watch the recent All-In podcast interview with Pete Buttigieg, one of their biggest problems with Biden - that led to them pivoting to Trump, supposedly - was that they couldn't just walk into his office and tell him what they wanted.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

In her book Cyberselfish (2000), Paulina Borsook notes her concerns about where tech was heading began in the 90s, seeing personal ads like:

"Ayn Rand enthusiast is seeking libertarian-oriented
female for great conversation and romance. I am a very
bright and attractive high-tech entrepreneur."
I keep thinking of this episode from THE OTHER TWO in which Brooke dates a series of billionaires who all turn out to be clones of Jeff Bezos -- bald, roided-out, self-centered idiots who only care about going to space.

Can't find it online, but this fan-made video catches the best parts:

Still amazes me that a year ago Tesla and Elon Musk unveiled their 'Optimus' robots and pretended they were autonomous in order to bump the company share price, never officially admitting that they were remote-controlled by humans, and nobody seems to care.

I interviewed Paulina Borsook, who warned of tech culture's toxic underbelly over 30 years ago.

She wrote a prescient and scathing book, "Cyberselfish."

It tanked her career, but a new generation is discovering her work as tech fascism tries to kill democracy 👇
