I love the name Pizza Hot so much. It’s unreasonable how delightful I find it. I don’t know if there are multiple locations. I don’t know if it’s a nod to the Hut or just a description. I love it no matter what.

This man stopped us before security and told us to follow him. He took us past the train we took to get to the airport, down 2 escalators, across 2 other big spaces. And we all followed him on nothing more than the promise of a shorter security line.

Anyway, I don’t seem to have been trafficked.

This is a good ad.

Living room corner at night. It’s a crowded space. Against the wall to the left is square wood modular storage in white and oak. The top section holds and ivy and the bottom a jasmine. They each have trailers reaching for the light. Behind them in the corner is a knee-high plastic glowing blob of a lamp. Next to the lamp on the wall perpendicular to the storage, is the large living room window. It is draped in red and white Xmas lights. Next to the lamp at the far left of the window is a peace lily on a short stand. In front of that and in front of the storage described before is a tall black plant stand and on top of that is a palm in a black pot. The fronds touch the wall in the corner and the window. Behind the palm under and in the window is a section of that wooden box modular storage with more plants. They all sit comfortably under the palm frond. A small red accordion-pleated Xmas tree also sits on this section. Next to the storage (center of the window but it’s the right edge of the photo), a round multicolor table holds a larger green paper accordion-pleated Xmas tree. Next to the palm on the floor is a humidifier. The rug is off white with orangey-brown dashes.

It’s slow going because I’m not a fan of working on the black Aida. The shape is starting to emerge which is fun.

Incomplete progress photo of mostly pink blackwork on black Aida. Current stage of the project has four pink rectangular areas of different motifs stretching in each of the cardinal directions. The center has four small blue squares at the points where the pink spaces meet. Two larger blue squares balance on the diagonal between two of the small squares and it’s clear there will be a total of four large squares in the center. The squares will leave a diagonal cross/star in the center that will be filled with purple threads in a complicated pattern. Still to do on the outside is four more larger areas of motifs that will cross the first four spaces on the diagonal. So the end result will be an 8 point star where each point has a different motif and color associated with it and where the overlapping motifs are complicated and work together.

Tis the season when my kitchen is consistently too cold to prove bread in a timely manner so I bought a proofing box and it’s pretty cool. It has a window.
Grey fabric box with black seams and a vinyl window. On top (blocking the brand name because these people aren’t paying me for my massive massive 2 person reach) is the white unit controller with a temperature and time display and a control wheel. Through the window, the temperature probe and silvery insides of the box are visible as is a metal bowl. The bread dough being proofed is not.

The people yelling about how SNAP recipients should get jobs won’t be sympathetic to learning that 40% of SNAP goes to kids because they want those kids at work, too. They were, if you’ll recall, giddy at child labor protection rollbacks.

With her at the governor’s desk are several very happy white adults and 3 suited and miserable white male children. Those kids probably don’t know that they’ll never have to get a job at 12 because they’re connected and bougie but all the conservative parents I know would have featured the threat as a child discipline and control measure.

WIP, not even Wednesday-

Blackwork on black Aida. Ignore the yellow square - it’s being kept clear for a central motif.
Original pattern is mono-color but I decided to do shades of pink to kind of emphasize where the motifs overlap (on the diagonals that haven’t been started yet).
In progress blackwork cross stitch. Delicate pink strands make up repeated motifs across black cloth. As it stands, if the work were a compass, south and west directions are complete and north is in progress. The center of the work is empty and surrounded by a yellow square - it’s a marker thread to keep me in the correct location. Once the cardinal directions are handled, 4 more leafs of motifs will go over top on the diagonals (nw-se, sw-ne) in slightly different pinks and with different motifs. The overlapping spaces will have both colors of motif making up a more intricate and complex motif in the space. The word motif has lost all meaning to me right now. #craftsky #crossstitch #makestuff

Lily update:
White bulbous vase holds a mass of giant pink lilies. The vase rests on a green coaster in front of a mirror. The lilies are crowded and huge, each bigger than your hand and there are 8 or 10 visible blooms. You can’t smell it because it’s the internet but their fragrance easily reaches the sofa 10 or 15 steps away.

The lilies I got at the grocery store this week are massive. Evidence for this is that I’m in this photo.
Bulbous white vase filled with large pink lily buds. One flower facing the viewer has bloomed. These lilies are huge and you can tell because the vase is in front of a mirror and I am not really visible behind the flowers and they haven’t even bloomed yet. The one that has is as big as your hand. Visible (but blurry) in the background to the left is an orange armchair and a very large bright blobby blue lamp and I just want to note that the lamp is fantastic and I love it like crazy but cannot find a similar year not matching lamp to go elsewhere in the room. It’s a modern tragedy.

Obsession with blackwork continues. This is from @loosethreadstitch.bsky.social Shoutout to them because I am bad at outlines but the pattern made it easy and I’m pleased with how they’re shaping up.

Blackwork cross stitch work in progress. The end result will be some number of stacked hearts, each in a different color and with a different fill pattern. So far, the top heart is red with a fill that is nearly floral. The second heart is orange and the fill is more “large hollow x” based. The third heart, not at all complete, is yellow. The fill feels a bit like an echo of a plus sign.
