The Administration acknowledged that it will stop the survey that measures food insecurity, just as tariffs push up food prices and the deep cuts to food assistance enacted in July start to take effect. Congress must intervene to save these vital data. www.wsj.com/economy/trum...
Exclusive | Trump Administration Cancels Annual Hunger Survey
The government has been measuring food insecurity since the mid-1990s but now says the report has become “overly politicized.”

Exciting to see #PaidLeave champs gather on the Hill today to recommit to the #FAMILYAct.

Here's an explainer about what's in bill -- and what US workers, families, and businesses could have access to, if only Congress would look at the evidence and take action.

They said we'll "get over it." We won't.

Congress has passed the largest cuts to care in history – gutting Medicaid, Medicare, and the #AffordableCareAct by more than one trillion dollars, in favor for tax cuts for billionaires.

We will not simply "get over" losing our care!

Great news from California, where improved #PaidLeave benefits do what they are intended to: Let people take #TimeToCare for children and loved ones and themselves!

California increased paid family leave payments. Now more parents are taking advantage
Starting in January, the state offered more-generous leave benefits. Claims in the first two quarters this year were up about 16%, compared to the same time period last year.

If political leaders could just encourage and fund care for one another instead of rolling tanks to DC to break our streets, things would be much better.
This is why we don't have universal paid leave

Secretary Chavez DeRemer’s attacks on the Women’s Bureau aren’t accidental, they’re part of a concerted effort by the Trump administration to disenfranchise women. Over the past 4 months, the admin has continuously rolled back women’s rights in the name of defending them. bsky.app/profile/gayl...
The Trump administration is hiding its attacks on women behind claims that it is “defending” them. President Trump and the GOP pose a serious threat to women’s economic security and reproductive rights. Here’s what’s happening and what we can do about it 🧵 www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/...
Reducing women’s rights — in the name of protecting them — is central to Trump’s agenda
To sustain itself, authoritarianism dismantles women’s autonomy, writes Leigh Gilmore. The frequent consequence is that women are confined to domestic roles and at the mercy of male heads of household...

Gov. Josh Shapiro has a chance to make history by backing the Family Care Act—a bill that would make PA the first swing state with paid family and medical leave.

81% of voters (including 67% of GOP) support it, via @rwest817.bsky.social and @gaylegoldin.bsky.social.
Shapiro’s silence on paid family leave stands in stark contrast with Democratic rivals. What gives? | Opinion
While other rising-star governors like Tim Walz, Gretchen Whitmer, Gavin Newsom, and JB Pritzker have expanded paid leave in their states, Josh Shapiro has stayed silent on Pa.'s Family Care Act.

As the Pennsylvania Legislature gets back to work on a bipartisan paid family and medical leave proposal this week, let's review the reasons #PaidLeave benefits workers, families, businesses, and the economy and makes PA competitive with nearby states.

Paid family leave is the right answer for PA families – and the commonwealth itself
Providing such a benefit will make the state a leader in the nation and even more attractive to young families.
