Absent from discussions of immigration policy is how immigration impacts older adults. Older immigrants are revered, and immigrants are critical in the direct care workforce. Our new resource, Understanding Critical Connections between Immigration and Older Adults, unpacks this: lnkd.in/gwUtPARn

Today we at @justiceinaging.org are saying enough is enough. Stop messing with the critical programs that older adults and people with disabilities rely on everyday. See you in court.
Breaking: Today, we filed a lawsuit against the Social Security Administration and DOGE for creating roadblocks that prevent Americans from getting their retirement and disability benefits.

The changes and chaos at SSA hurt all people who rely on its services, but - no surprise - disproportionately harm low-income older adults of color. My @justiceinaging.org colleague @traceygro.bsky.social unpacks why in this piece from Mother Jones.

President Trump's English language executive order dangerously erases almost 25 years of critical policy guidance that improved the lives of people with limited English proficiency (LEP). This xenophobic act hurts older adults with LEP. Our @justiceinaging.org statement here: tinyurl.com/4b8xjxtj

Medicaid cuts hurt all older adults who count on the program as a lifeline to age with dignity and security. Medicaid covers home and community-based services. It also pays for Medicare premiums and provides coverage for folks through Medicaid expansion who aren't yet eligible for Medicare.
Last night, the House approved a budget resolution that mandates trillions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid.

But the fight is not over.

@kevinprindiville.bsky.social:
"We will make sure lawmakers know that voting to enact these cuts would be voting to abandon older Americans."

Any cut, freeze, or further limitation - however you shape it - to Medicaid will hurt low-income older adults. More from my colleague @nataliekean.bsky.social.
Work requirements are red tape. Red tape = cuts.
Seniors will be harmed. Many older adults who aren't yet eligible for Medicare would be uninsured if not for #Medicaid. They have Medicaid because their employers don't offer health insurance, they have been laid off... (1/3)
Reports are emerging that Republican lawmakers continue to consider taking #Medicaid away from people who don’t meet unnecessary work requirements.
