one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

When much the City’s self-described “savings and efficiencies” include deferrals of capital investments as well as reduced fuel costs resulting from the elimination of the Carbon Tax, it’s more accurate to call it “cost avoidance” and “blind luck”.
#OttBudget 2026 invests in the services we rely on every day. We have realized more than $252 million in savings during this Term of Council through service reviews and continue to improve services for our residents.
One example is @octranspo.com’s safety strategy.

Hey @davidallengreen.bsky.social does the BBC need SLAPP laws in the UK?
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

An odd oversight in Canadian cannabis legalization: there's no cannabis bars or other establishments where you can hang out and get stoned in company. No cannabis third places. And no legal framework for them either?!

I swore an oath to the Constitution in 1986. I've upheld it through 25 years of service and every day since I retired.

If Trump's trying to intimidate me, it won’t work. I’ve given too much to our country to be silenced by bullies who care more about power than the Constitution.

STOP THE FUCKING BANDWAGONING. YOU WILL LOOK LIKE A FOOLISH CUNT SOON.
At the #G20 Summit in Johannesburg, Canada forged new partnerships in trade, energy, AI, tech, sustainability, and defence. We’re building big things in Canada — and these nations want to build with us.

The Ottawa city government and @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social are not a serious government. They are a clown show masquerading as a government. This is all in an effort to appease about 20 millionaires who can't possibly pay any extra city taxes, for services they don't use..
When @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social says there were no opportunity costs to Lansdowne, look at this list of things that are being deferred from transit. When the Mayor says we're being efficient, look at how they accomplish that. Now extrapolate that across the City budget.

Something else that the author fails to note: what's the easiest economy for a young couple trying to escape the trap? Skip childcare. How do you do that? No kids.
A fascinating article, and though America centric, it has echoes in many countries in the Western world.

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.
