One of my favourite modern essays talks about this relationship of the mpdern left(what little there is) and it's relationship to the USSR, and the refusal to actuslly analyze it, and not just use it as a symbol.

Fits sadly well into the history of anarchism when in conflict with communists. Like, the ones that are not like this tend to cooperate, and the others tend to become bandits and the like. (Or they completly fail at organising a war economy and get killed by fascists)
