Apparently, I now have to verify my age in order to read direct messages (or access 'adult content' - though TBH, I didn't realise there was any on Bluesky).

Therefore, please don't DM me.
This is indeed a very good idea.
To date, an LLM has only had 1 idea that I hadn't already thought of, but it's such a good one that I really wish I had: Registering RISC OS apps as being able to handle specific Wimp messages - so if a task sends a message that isn't handled, the Wimp could launch an appropriate app, eg StrongHelp!

I instinctively think something is broken when I check my email for the first time on any given day, and there is nothing new in my primary, most active - and most spammed - mailbox.

Not even any spam filtered out into the junk folder.

Checked. It's fine.

That is INCREDIBLY rare for that mailbox.

Was just reading some of Grok's tweets in that thread. It's quite funny how ludicrously flattering it is to Musk.

An example:

A creditable showing for the BBC Micro against various souped-up Apple IIs, but no Second Processor versions which (by the end of 1984) included 65C02, Z-80B, 6809 and 68000 options. All would have been faster yet.

Later there'd be 65C102, 80186, 80286, 32016 and of course ARM.
Ever wanted to know how your ZX81 ranked against a CRAY supercomputer from 1984? Assuming your eyesight is good enough, now you know.

My phone typos are becoming more frequent, and getting worse.

I can't blame autocorrect/replace for 'didcovered' though - except in that it didn't.
It turned out the fault with my internet connection was *my* router, not the connection itself or Virgin Media's modem. 🫤

My router - unusually - needed a reboot (didcovered after I started testing the Virgin Media modem).

Trying to contact them was still a horrendous experience, though.
FWIW there are separate threads in Twitter regarding my ISP, Virgin Media - done there because they're there, so I could @ them along the way.

Dealing with them has become so much harder since the last time.

For anyone looking for a new ISP, I can't recommend them less.

My broadband is downno at the mo, so I'm using my phone for internet use. I had to use it as a hotspot yesterday to do some client work and submit a VAT return.

My data allowance isn't great (6GB/mo) but it's normally ample. I have a warning set at 2GB - which is illustrative of my normal use.

An excellent read - as are all of Jonathan's books, TBH, but this one has zombies, and is now a bargain.

I missed the movie news until now, though - nice one. Looking forward to that! 😁

Well that was annoying. I've just done a YouGov poll, and it was followed up with an experimental chat with their new AI chat bot - but mid convo I accidentally tapped the wrong part of the screen and quit, and can't get back to it to continue.

I was just starting to explore what it responds to.

This 'TechHalla' guy is being ironic and pointing out how bad it is.

He must be, surely.

TBF, it's entertaining - but for all the wrong reasons. I've just amused myself watching it several times... looking out for flaws I haven't spotted yet.

There are so many flaws!
AI sitcom accidentally a Lynchian fever dream. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and insane lament.

This one is now fixed - hopefully in a way that will work alongside other moving objects.

It might need fine tuning where player movement isn't fully in sync with other objects - depends when the human player presses keys. I'll find out when I add that.
The other is that if a direction is pressed mid-transition, this affects when & how the map should be updated & it's sometimes fluffing it. This one has to be fixed in code, so next coding session I'll peek at the Floopy source code to see how I handled it (ahem) thirty years ago.

Just added player movement to Drop Rock. It's only checking that the player is moving into a free space, and there are a couple of glitches - but it works, and should also work for other moving elements.

Quicker and easier than I anticipated - so could have done it before London. 🤷‍♂️
