Reading a fanfic and leaving a comment costs zero dollars and will instantly make you a hero to the author! What are we doing? You aren’t a starving urchin at a market where all the bread costs money. A very nice lady down the street is giving bread away for free, don’t steal from other poor people.

Also it’s poorly paced and it almost entirely replaces relationship development with the knowledge that everyone will die at the movie. Characters go from barely knowing each other to being like ~we are a family~ in way that’s unearned. (Clearly a rant I’ve been holding in for almost ten years 😅)

100% yes. Very clearly. It’s fun to guess what the original backstory was— I gotta assume some kind of quasi hostage situation they cut for budget reasons since it meant they could skip having a bunch of empire sets on top of the rest.

Literally her adopted dad decided to leave her in prison, when she was a teenager!!! A conflict between a man who has made sacrifices for the greater good and a woman who WAS sacrificed for the greater good would have been interesting but that’s not what they did.

The hard backslide into overt fatphobia is so depressing. I remember watching as the fat acceptance movement was co-opted to be the body positivity movement and realizing that as soon as it was marketable by capitalism actual political fat liberation was going to be harder to achieve. And like, yup.

I think people really underestimate how differently food systems were a hundred years ago, consistent access to refrigerators and the ability to transport foods long distances changes SO MUCH.

Yes! Sometimes heirloom cultivars are solving a problem we just don’t have anymore and while we shouldn’t just abandon them it’s also good to keep this in mind.

No it’s bullshit. I’m extremely white and both sides of my family have branches that have been in America since the 1600s and I call my parents cousins aunt and uncle. This super normal!!! Frankly I also call half my mom’s friends aunt so-and-so. This is an even dumber Mamdani “scandal” than usual.

I live in a city that used to be suggested in place of more expensive interesting arty cities and then ten years ago the cost of rent and housing artificially exploded and now when you compare housing cost to income it’s one of the most expensive cities in North America. You can’t win.

I was dog sitting last week and he was suffering because there are two suspicious little animals in the house, one of whom kept stalking him. I can’t get any pics of when he REALLY looks like the lead of a Junji Ito manga because my hands were usually preventing my cat from trying to snuggle him.

She wrote Folkmore when she was forced to stay home and I suspect Midnights contained a lot of reworked old material— a lot of the songs on it have a real 2014 tumblr vibe. Since then when would she have had time to devote to putting effort into writing?

I will say the thing about consulting a lawyer is that I think there’s another lawsuit in the works aimed at Meta and they might be able to give you general advice that would help in the future? And you’d have a contact if that went to shit. But IDK.
