Australia *could* have had cheaper renewable energy & a cheaper super fast, universal fibre network.
Instead, we’re paying higher bills to undo past choices.

Long-term planning matters — & when governments ignore expert advice, households eventually pick up the tab.

As others have said and I fully endorse: most economists need to be thrown into a 🌋. We could make a festival of it 🎉

Across the Anglosphere higher ed leadership has thrown up the white flag to the christofascists. The longer term implication of this for our societies is stagnation and retreat into superstition. Sagan’s “Demon Haunted World” is upon us.

I like your optimism. But look at the US, UK, Canada etc, self destruction is as easy as a well worn pair of slippers. The walls of an imaginarium will often hold until a real world catastrophe crashes through from the outside.

The wider political gamble here is that western consumers will accept a total ban on goods made in China and countries under its influence ….. that’s not really a gamble is it, it’s just economic suicide.

Journos: you need to stop normalising our govts’ (fed & state) abject failures on climate and biodiversity policy. Everyone with a scientific understanding knows we are careening towards widespread ecosystem and therefore civilisation collapse. Talk to climate scientists and ecologists FFS.

Australia’s G8 publicly supporting the Albanese govt’s pro fossil carbon enviro “protection” legislation, and therefore silencing academics who might otherwise speak against it, isn’t so different. Higher education is lost across the Anglosphere.

On nationalisation we just need to declare a climate emergency and bite the bullet.

Weird how we didn’t have all these data centres 5 years ago and were doing fine but now we have to burn the 🌍 for them 🤷

Problem is, the more we focus on the 💵 the less we focus on making that interim as short as possible. So my 🥩 is about focus and how that determines strategy. If we focus too much on the 💵 we’ll miss stopping the forever climate damage. Thanks for engaging positively with me 🙏
