If someone is telling you that in order to transition away from burning fossil fuels we need to burn more fossil fuels and you believe them, the kindest thing I can say is you’re not using your 🧠 to its full capacity.

You need to understand that every molecule of fossil gas we release to leak or be burned into the atmosphere does more climate damage. How many more marine ecosystems do you want to lose? We have multiple policy options to provide energy bill relief that don’t involve destroying the climate.

@australiainstitute.org.au has been heavily promoting a domestic gas reserve and a modest tax on LNG exports, effectively lobbying for the continuation of fossil gas mining. This is a really nice example of how fossil industry propaganda works, even on smart people who see themselves as immune.
