Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Kinda striking that ICE and the Border Patrol are focusing their enforcement on a blue state like Minnesota even though there are a lot more undocumented immigrants in red states like Texas and Florida. www.wsj.com/us-news/the-...

Virginia's legislative session only started yesterday, and it was a very big day.

The House already passed four constitutional amendments on Day 1:
—protect abortion rights
—repeal the same-sex marriage ban
—allow mid-decade redistricting
—greatly expand voting rights restoration.

Next: Senate.

One of many problems with this is that some less online individuals (read my parents) still think of the Washington Post as extremely left, so they see this and conclude that even the lefties at the Washington Post are on our side.
In a week where we watched JD Vance and his cronies threaten the media and protestors for telling the truth, The Washington Post decided that Jack Smith was the real threat to the First Amendment. This is insanely dumb -- even for WaPo.

Now I gotta worry about my wife and kids on the road if they come across these ICE fucking thugs. Already worry about my kids getting shot in school every day. Greatest country in the world!
It's time to state clearly that if MAGA and Republicans can't condemn any part of this shooting, continue to blame the victim for it, and even hint that it's a just outcome that others "deserve," that's a crossing of the line that the rest of us won't ever be able to forget.
Rep. Randy Fine: "If you impede the actions of our law enforcement as they seek to repel foreign invaders from our country, you get what's coming to you. I do not feel bad for the woman that was involved."

Remember how Republicans used to argue that "We need the Second Amendment as a check against federal government tyranny"?

Bear in mind that absolutely none of them are making that argument right now, even though federal government tyranny is the scenario that they claimed to fear the most.
The danger of this moment cannot be overstated. Trump/Noem's vile defense of the killing shows that the heavily-armed government agents roaming our cities are unbound/unaccountable even when they kill Americans.

On the pod, @felipedlh.bsky.social and I dig into this:

Trump’s ICE Agents Killed a Citizen. Then Damning New Details Emerged.
As the ICE shooting horror in Minneapolis gets worse, a writer who focuses on ICE accountability explains why the government’s cover story is full of holes—and what recourse we have now.

New in PN: Renee Good's killer can and must be prosecuted

Great video analysis of Minneapolis shooting from NYT. These frames show drawing of gun and exact moment of first shot.
