I've never liked GZ's map much compared to other ports so this is nice to have

somehow I prefer Plutonai's pure contempt for the player

there are modern custom WADs that merge id style lite dungeon crawling and more elaborate combat and the results are quite interesting

the original IWAD levels also showcase an similar vision as well even if they aren't always super challenging and vary wildly in quality

I think it's awesome that classic DOOM is sustained on being really solid mechanically/thematically and being GPL licensed alone outside the occasional rerelease of the originals
