recently I've been playing Tom's Halls, an DOOM Alpha/Bible themed communuity project WAD largely based on reimagining the unused maps and textures that trickled out over the years as more id style levels. most of the map design has been pretty incredible both aesthetically and design wise.

found this weird beta themed mario 64 hack called Autumn9x and I'm having way too much fun with it. has an structure that's more like an fusion between vanilla 64 and 2D Mario with sets of 7 smaller levels with around 1-3 stars and an boss level organized into an "world" in an part of the castle

I feel it's often the opposite and leads to poor form on the level designers side because they think the players kit will make up the difference of having to design challenges that actually test it

it's quite appalling how that new "Replanted" version of PvZ1 is so blatantly lazy that there are AI upscaling artifacts that haven't been cleaned up in released footage and screenshots

I've offically finished #ANTONBLAST by @summitsphere.bsky.social and I was just blown away the whole time with the quality of it's art and gameplay. it makes me feel extremely pround that I was able to chuck a handful of dollars in Tony Grayson's face back when they were on Kickstarter

Spectacle Creep is an awesome GZDoom UDMF remake of DOOM 1's first episode Knee Deep in the Dead that we've all played a million times that's worth playing. almost feels like a Build game with how the maps are still abstract enough but also feel lived in and the secrets have more of a logic to them
