Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

So naturally, when I saw one on the member sales table at the spring show, I couldn't resist. It just opened its first flower, and it's gorgeous & not cleistogamous! 🌱🪴

A wide-angle view of the jewel #orchid terrarium that is accidentally accumulating a bunch of other orchid genera after I cut the flower spikes off a couple of the jewel orchids.

Currently, I'm painting another small Sax-Zim Bog resident, but here's a Boreal Chickadee I did last year. I've only seen one once, but it made a lasting impression! Such an adorable bird.

We had a Connecticut warbler fallout at the end of May, so this is my month's #NearbyNature2025 entry. These beauties are extremely skulky and very hard to spot. They prefer to run on the ground rather than fly, which doesn't help!
