💰£5.6 Million. That's what @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social has paid Job & Talent to break the bins strike. And now it seems they may be colluding to blacklist agency workers. Shame! 😡

🥳 Good news (if you are an energy CEO) National Grid profits rose15% to £1.65 billion for the half year to Sep 30.
😥 Not so good news if you are a consumer. Energy companies made £30 bn profits last year. That is £500 on every household bill going to dividends, shares buybacks & bonuses for CEOs 💰
November 6, 2025 at 5:49 PM
#EnergyBills have shot up by 42% since 2021, leaving households struggling to get by. Meanwhile foreign countries and the world’s richest individuals are feasting on huge energy #profits 😳
In fact, £500 from every household's bill goes as energy profits every year 📈

💰Of all new wealth created since 2020, the richest 1% has taken 40% of it! Meanwhile the bottom half of humanity saw its wealth grow by just 1%.
This shocking stat is from a new report by Nobel Prize-winning economist @josephestiglitz.bsky.social

💰 “Households are being fleeced pure & simple. Energy bills up by 42% since 2021, whilst energy companies made £30bn profit in just 1 yr. The govt is turning a blind eye to these excessive profits. That must change. Everyday people cannot continue to pay” @unitesharon.bsky.social

🤯 Mind-blowing. Financial experts join legal experts, trade unionists, residents & bin workers in telling ⁦
@bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social they had zero need to put workers & residents through the pain of this strike

@unitetheunion.bsky.social have commissioned our own energy report which clearly shows that £500 of our yearly £1,700 bill lands directly into the pockets of energy companies who made £30 billion in a single year!

Defective equipment, no sick pay & ‘blackmail’😳

Birmingham Bin agency staff have come forward with what happens behind the scenes at Job & Talent - the refuse agency that currently has a contract with Birmingham City Council.

It’s no wonder workers are balloting to strike 📣

😱 £26 million! @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social is throwing good money after bad to break the bins strike. And it is Birmingham's bin workers and residents who are paying the price.
Settling the strike would cost a fraction of this reports ITV

🥳 Good news!! (As long as you are a banker)
“Better-than-expected results from big banks”
Barclays today announced income of £7.2bn - up 9% year-on-year; pre-tax profits of £2.1bn for 3 months to the end of Sep; and a £500mn share buyback!
🕙 Time to tax excessive wealth and profits

🤯 Simply staggering mismanagement & incompetence at
@bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social
1 The council declares itself effectively bankrupt due to equal pay liabilities of between £650m & £760m
2 They snatch £8k a year from bin workers
3 They finally settle their equal pay claims for £250m
So...🧵

🤯 You won't believe what this agency manager tells workers emptying bins in Birmingham!
😡 Is a @teamlabouruk.bsky.social council really saying they won't employ anyone who joins a picket line? Isn't that called blacklisting? Shouldn't Labour-run @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social be against that?
October 14, 2025 at 9:07 AM
“It is no surprise that more and more agency workers are refusing to cross the picket lines due to the toxic culture within the waste department.
“Unite supports all Birmingham bin workers – whether they are employed by the council or an agency” @unitesharon.bsky.social

😲 You won't believe what industry insiders are telling Unite about the job losses at Lindsey Oil Refinery.
“The government’s commitment to preserve jobs and support the continuation of an oil refinery at Lindsey is ringing hollow. This all looks shady at best” @unitesharon.bsky.social

😡 "It's absolutely terrible in our streets. Rubbish is piling up." Lindsey asks Shabana Mahmood MP why has this strike gone on so long? Time to sort the mess out & come up with a decent deal for the bin workers - so they don't lose £8k. Local councillors and MPs aren't losing £8k are they?

Workers pay more than their fair share in a rigged system. A wealth tax would make sure the rich contribute, funding schools, healthcare & public services instead of hoarding wealth 💰
It’s time to take real action and invest in our communities and drive real growth

🔌 The UK has some of the highest energy bills in Europe & next week the energy price cap will hit £1,755 / year for a typical household - 42% up on Winter 2021/22.
😡 Meanwhile, research for the End Fuel Poverty Coalition shows energy Co’s profits since the bills crisis began at a staggering £514 bn!

Dirty streets, youth centres & libraries closing, housing repairs delayed... Our local authorities are in crisis. Workers & residents suffer while councils struggle with budget cuts & debt. It is time for Fair Funding for local authority services.
