Kinda sad when Reddit is the best source of real information. YouTube is great for seeing the products in action and the reviews are much better than the total slop you find on the Web but I suspect there‘s some bias there too.

Ya the getting dressed part is mostly what sucks. I used to just drive to the beach in my wetsuit. LOL. But ya once you're in the water it's surprisingly ok. I was bobbing in the water in February once waiting for waves and it started snowing. It was pretty magical.

I don’t surf anymore but I’ve been out in February in far colder temps. Seems crazy but it’s fine. 7mm mitts and boots + hood. The extremities do get chilly at the 2 hour mark (my limit) and cold spray in your face sucks if it’s windy but you’d be surprised how warm everything is that‘s IN the water

OMG after more than a week touring every suburb of LA including Irvine, Anaheim, Orange, Compton and a weekend getaway in Santa Clarita… the package has finally arrived at the USPS Distribution Center and Bell Gardens. Should be leaving the US soon.

To be fair I DO remember one of my coaches basically telling me this once (in another way but same idea). In relation to a backspin tho'. Anyway it's exciting to still have breakthroughs like that. Excited to maybe FINALLY get my backspin (the spins I did today were just two foot forward foot spins)

I was THINKING about the mechanics of the bad spins. But that first one (in a year) started slow & cautious. I didn't pull in till I FELT it. So I tried again making sure I FELT the centripetal force before pulling in and… WOW! How have I been skating for 10+ years and only learning into this now?!

All team leaders do bring printed maps along w/ their tasking sheets. And compass too not just GPS. WhatsApp is mostly stuff like “I lost my flashlight at the last search… anyone pick it up?” We of course have tons of technology but WhatsApp is mostly social and not required or critical in any way.

We don’t use texting. And WhatsApp is for non-critical comms. We have GSM radios for that.
