Wow they're going to town. The Mayflower Curling Club on Monaghan Drive, their location from 1962-2022, home to teams headed by Colleen Jones and others, and host of the 2011 Canada Winter Games is no more.

After months of prep, the heavy equipment has arrived on site and is now tearing into the Mayflower Curling Club. Seems poignant given Coleen's passing. I believe she got her start at the Mayflower.

Been a crazy week. So last night I kept it simple for supper (and ordered Domino's tonight)… pan fried haddock, baked potato, and a store bought salad. And yes I had double-fisted ramekins… tartar (also store bought) and sour cream 🤤 Meant to post this last night but… it's been a crazy week.

Good lord. There's an answer. WSJ published an article saying Johnny Cash was a loser. Sarah (a Cash fan) quote-posted it w/ a line from Folsom Prison Blues… in quotes "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die". They decided this was a genuine death threat against the author. From SARAH KENDZIOR?!
I was suspended from BlueSky for defending the honor of Johnny Cash. I wish I were joking. In early October, I referenced the "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" lyric of "Folsom Prison Blues" in response to a terrible Wall Street Journal article saying that Johnny Cash was uncool. I quote-tweeted the article and everyone understood the reference. There was no outcry. I stand by my assessment that Johnny Cash is cool. I do not like being the subject of so much attention, especially when I cannot see the discussion. But the BlueSky admins are now claiming that I wrote a post saying, out of nowhere, "I want to shoot the author of this article just to watch him die". They are not posting a screenshot of the actual tweet, which shows that I am quote-tweeting an article about Johnny Cash, and that my post is obviously not a threat but a play on "Folsom Prison Blues." BlueSky is lying and saying I posted this line on November 10. I did not. I posted it in early October, when the WSJ article came out. You can see that they are lying about the date from this page showing my last BlueSky tweets: I was not given any explanation for my suspension the first two times I inquired. Later I was told it was for the "Folsom Prison Blues" reference, and I asked for clarification but did not receive it. I thought it might be a prank until a reporter reached out this morning and confirmed it. BlueSky's behavior is bizarre and unwarranted. I have lost access to friends and all my posts and photos. I am incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support here on Substack and also on BlueSky - though I cannot see it, because I am suspended. To quote another Johnny Cash song: "I ain't never done nothin' to nobody/ I ain't never got nothin' from nobody, no time/ And until I get somethin' from somebody, sometime, I don't intend to do nothin' for nobody, no time." BSKY needs to reinstate Sarah Kendzior immediately. She did nothing wrong. She is a very highly regarded multiple award-winning author and researcher, and scholar on authoritarianism and there is absolutely no explanation for this. It’s outrageous.
A post on Sarah Kendziorks substack reads “ Twitter/X never suspended me. I've never been suspended anywhere! BlueSky is the first social media site to ban me and I've been on social media for 17 years. BlueSky has the worst censorship problem on social media.”

My Dad had a Macintosh “Portable” for work that he used to bring home on weekends for me to play with. I just looked up a (real) photo of it and that spacebar-shaped trackball button was real! His next computer was a PowerBook 100 which I absolutely LOVED. The trackball and the little rotating feet

I'd blame sprawl but John Parr on the Peninsula is this same kind of garbage construction. I can't believe the prices there are in the $320K range now. Couldn't pay me to live there. Better off renting.

Not a Thanksgiving Dinner (which I don’t really enjoy anyway TBH) by my 100% from scratch solo dinner (my family is all in Ontario) is maybe somewhat Thanksgiving adjacent? Panko breaded roast chicken w/ Montreal Steak Spice, roasted potatoes wedges, glazed carrots, and a ramekin of garlic aioli.

As a designer I absolutely LOVE (lol) the chaos of this board with all the different fonts, names squished in, other names covered by a labelled etc. I’m sure it looked beautiful on day 1 and in the designers mockups 😁
