You have to make allowances for the fact that everything we're seeing tonight is real.

Very occasional updates at blog.particleman.org.
Don't threaten me with a good time.

(I am very attuned to the irony of making this argument at the same time auto-complete is making me look barely literate.)

But I don’t want to get good at troubleshoot installactions. I want to get good at building software that uses node.js. Not wasting time on bullshit problems let’s me develop skills I want to develop faster.

I’m sure not going to boycott a game whose developers used AI in this way.

But I’m absolutely going to use a machine that can tell my how my node.js install got fucked and how to unfuck it. I don’t feel like I’m threatening anyone’s career or stealing anyone’s intellectual labor by doing that. I AM failing to develop my own ability to troubleshoot node.js installations.

I think, intuitively, that there’s a difference between a machine that can generate artwork for you and a machine that can tell you why a horrible bash script that you inherited is fucking up. Maybe there isn’t and I’m just fooling myself.

Disclosing that you used AI is going to end up like California’s Prop. 65 warnings unless you disclose specifically what you used it for. MCP in particular raises the quality of agent results so substantially that it’s increasingly difficult to justify not using them.

I grew up in a verywhite suburb. When I went to college, it was in a predominantly Black city. The first movie I went to see in my new town was Re-Animator.

I didn’t know it was even _legal_ to make so much noise in a movie. After I got over being mortified it was unbelievably fun.

You can think of Dien Bien Phu as the Viet Minh ruthlessly and overwhelmingly kicking out the French but keeping pate and butter.

The other morning I caught a look at my face in the mirror and thought, that's weird, what are those?

Cheekbones. They're called cheekbones. Mine disappeared some time during the Reagan administration. Unlike a lot of other things, they're back.

The look on Liz’s face in the last quarter second before she jumps is the realest, most emotionally naked thing I’ve ever seen in a music video.

If you haven’t, watch their delightful video for “Knees Deep.”

So, um, have you considered writing for the Hallmark Channel?

I remember the halcyon days when we felt that way if they went to Uber.
