I am delighted to share that we have a new edition of the Laws of Cricket.
There are 73 changes, including a few pretty significant ones, which will come into effect in October 2026

Anyone interested in cricket stats should see women's cricket as a great area to get into, as it's still in the exciting, pioneering stage men's cricket went through a century or so ago - compiling and defining the foundational stats - combined with all the tools of the digital age.

Journalists, broadcasters, fans - stop relying on ESPNcricinfo for women's cricket balls faced records, especially slow-scoring stats.
Their database is woefully incomplete for pre-2000s women's cricket (this also applies ot Cricbuzz who have just replicated the same incomplete scorecards).

Japan women's international Ayaka Kate Stafford has been selected for an upcoming Australian U19 tour of Sri Lanka. This won't impact her eligibility to play for Japan as U19 bilateral cricket is not covered by ICC regulations on player eligibility. Only the World Cup and its qualifiers are.

Following an 78 run partnership for the last wicket, to which George Richardson contributed 0* from 8 balls, Asa Tribe is finally out for 175 out of Jersey's 261 - 67% of the team's runs. Only Viv Richards and Chamari Athapaththu have scored a higher percentage of runs in a completed ODI innings.

Having watched the women's T20 World Cup European qualifier and men's ICC Challenge League coverage on ICC TV these past few days, the quality of the scoring for the on screen graphics is leaving a lot to be desired. Far too many mistakes.
