🚨 Air quality in Vishakhapatnam today is UNHEALTHY. NO OUTDOOR EXERCISE.

💡DYK... Alyssa Healey's Cricket for Climate recently secured $50million of government funding to help clubs tackle climate change 💚👏

So Edwards will again be picking based on who is in place, and performance in the franchise tournaments, both of which are likely to lead to maintaining the status quo.

Yeah, I agree, but who are they going to play that she's going to learn much from? We saw that the series against West Indies didn't teach us anything (except possibly wrong lessons about the opening pair) - likewise South Africa before the Ashes. If Aus and India are busy who else is there?

Looks like it's ridiculously hot in Visakhapatnam today. Better or worse than pishing it down?
somuchcricket.bsky.social
To be fair Australia's schedule is not much better. They just have a multi-format series with India before next year's T20 World Cup. It's a structural issue with bilateral international women's cricket.

Administrative incompetence by Cricket Canada? I, for one, am shocked. The headline probably makes it sound more serious than it is, but it's illustrative of basic failures of governance.

They should. The middle order and the openers are both consistently failing and I don't think they can solve both problems by swapping the order around. Lamb clearly deserves a chance to open, but Dunkley seems bereft at the moment. DWH's record isn't brilliant, but it's better than this.

If they did pick Arlott for her batting it's looking an increasingly wise choice.
somuchcricket.bsky.social
Agreed. She did have a go at the Super Smash, without too much success, but the NZ conditions are probably the most different to what she's used to, the Caribbean is much more similar.

England are basically batting exactly the same as South Africa did against them.

I am once again appealing for any women's franchise league team to please take a punt on Fatima Sana #CWC25

Yes, they should have done too.

5 wides off the second ball and 4 runs off the fourth see Qatar win by 3 wickets. Oman and Nepal look all but through, but the last spot is still up for grabs.
somuchcricket.bsky.social
Qatar need 11 runs off the last over.

Really crucial game for Japan if they are going to qualify for the MT20 World Cup. They've struggled to score fast enough against Qatar but they are putting in a surge at the end.

Just two days ago I was reading an @nightwatchmanxi.bsky.social article about the history of the reverse sweep, and now here’s this about 1866 in The Call by Martin Flanagan. It’s a shot almost as old as overarm bowling. #cricket
Finally, Wills did what Grandfather hoped he would do. He produced the delivery that had terrified half the cricketers of Victoria and New South Wales, what is now called a 'bumper' but in those more gentlemanly days was always explained away as an accident caused by slippery fingers. The ball bounced halfway down the pitch and reared at Mullagh's head. As quick as a cat, Mullagh responded with the shot for which he was already famous in the district. He went down on one knee, slanting the bat in front of his face like a shield. Striking the bat, the ball skied over the wicketkeeper's head and hurried away to the long grass on the boundary. At the time, Wills stood in the middle of the pitch, chest heaving, hands on his hips, saying nothing, but afterwards he told Grandfather it was one of the best shots he had seen in a cricket field.

This is curious: women's world cup wicketkeeper ODI performances over last 3 years - what's up with Richa &/or the IND-W bowlers in terms of behind the wicket dismissals? #CricketSky

No not yet. But when I typed my message they had a restart time and then it started raining again.
somuchcricket.bsky.social
Counterintuitive, given NZ are reigning T20 champions but I think a shorter chase favours SL more than a full 50 over game. If the rain stays away reckon we're in for a good match.
