Excited to share that my first sole-authored article has just been published in the journal Qualitative Sociology! I investigate why spending time in nature often leads to care for it.

Today in my graduate seminar on race and ethnicity we are finishing up The Sociology of W.E.B. Du Bois by José Itzigsohn and Karida Brown. It's a superb book and a great way to introduce students to a Du Boisian approach to sociology.

Study by @unm.edu researchers found there is an increasing amount of microplastic in human brains. We eat microplastics – especially when eating meat, since there are bits of plastic in water and plants that livestock consume, and it accumulates in their muscles

This was a really touching article on the life and death of Michael Burawoy. 47 years at UC Berkeley. He loved the community and the community loved him back.

Tragic that we have lost (in a hit-and-run) one of the best people in sociology – his public work has served as mentorship to so many, including those who never formally met him. He will be missed.
I’m devastated that Michael Burawoy is no longer with us. Even though I wasn’t formally his student at Berkeley, he was a mentor to me and so many others. A model of intellectual rigour and political commitment, and a kind, generous person.

Taiwan is not what I thought it was. It is NOT an Indigenous nation fighting off Chinese imperialism. Rather, it is headed by an alternative Chinese government that until the 2000s claimed to be the only legitimate govt of China. Taiwan is 2.3% Indigenous. Really intriguing history there.
