My day and my life would have been happier without seeing a soulless fiend’s narcissistic reaction to the death of his betters.

I like socials for keeping up with local stuff. But the inescapable dread that comes with each day on platforms in this era doesn’t seem worth it.

Heated Rivalry making me think of how, at age 5, the legendary shit-talker Esa Tikkanen became my favorite hockey player for kissing another man

Just got off the Link where I saw a baby in a stroller holding an iPhone and watching an AI-generated Grinch get dragged off a cliff by the collar by Bigfoot(?).

anyway glad it’s Friday

This is why daylighting is essential if we care about Vision Zero. How is that white car supposed to see with that giant pickup truck parked in the way?

It’s great how, if you follow local weather accounts, the bsky algorithm says “oh, so you love weather?”. And then you get random weather-posters saying “the area” in the Discover feed.

sometimes you get to a point when baking where disaster is imminent and you know you should cut your losses. and every time I forge ahead just to see what happens

Update: New records I've obtained show that in 2025 the Seattle Police Department fulfilled an ICE request for records to "be utilized in removal proceedings regarding the below named individual" in one day.

“please sir, have some more,” i shout at the retreating backs of passersby, waving a time bomb (aka bread)

Accidentally opened Microsoft Edge and that triggered this email to me so I’ll probably be switching to Linux this weekend.

This is such a cool labor of love (and an inherent rebuke of the AI slop era). Exactly what art should be.

Let me get this straight: we trained this guy to be an elite killer, abandoned his country to the Taliban, isolated him, arbitrarily banned him from working and so left his family unsupported.

I don’t know if there’s any more efficient way of producing a mental health crisis outside of torture.

I take Wikipedia for granted. Reading this Jimmy Wales interview reminded me in our Fantasyland age what a remarkable and important creation it is. True pillar of civilization. Runs on only $200 million a year. Requires our support. So I’m finally donating. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/18/m...

Watched two Russell Crowe exorcist films last night. Not sure I’ve ever seen a film carried so hard by one actor as The Pope’s Exorcist. Should have been terrible, but was very enjoyable.

The Exorcism, otoh, displayed the strict limits to said actor’s ability to carry a film.

Incredibly bold of Buzz Grambo to be openly chasing and heckling stormtroopers with the size of the bounty the Hutts have put on his head. We need this kind of courage.

Love the framing here - it’s only measuring occupant fatalities to label things as “more dangerous”. Small cars = more dangerous, because you’re more likely to get killed by a street-legal monster truck 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Car study:

"Two Teslas, the Model Y and Model S, make the most dangerous cars list despite Tesla’s advanced driver-assist technology
Tesla also has the highest fatal accident rate by brand, followed by Kia, Buick, Dodge, and Hyundai"
