Major Kentucky bourbon maker Jim Beam shuttering distillery for 2026
The move comes as Kentucky’s $9 billion bourbon industry is dealing with a glut of supply and slipping sales.

Team looks totally different with JQ and Lowe on the floor pick n rolling. If they can each play 39 mpg this team has a chance, methinks. 🤐

It’s really dumb to only exceed the CBT by $1.5m. You could have spent almost $18m more without any additional tax increase and $38m more without any penalty.

They’ll go on and on about how unreliable renewables are and how they’re to blame for making power more expensive when 67% of the state’s power comes from coal and very little from renewables.

The residents in eastern Kentucky testifying in this Kentucky Power rate case are pretty focused on the impacts on their lives. The lawmakers who speak want to continue to fight the war on coal.

Realistic outcome if this happens …

• AZ ends up with Bregman, Mayer, Early and 1 or 2 DSL guys.

• BOS gets Marte but resorts to Arenado at 3b while giving up another minor leaguer.

Or they could just sign Bregman, keep Mayer and Early and trade an outfielder and flip what they get for a bat. 🤔
I like Ketel Marte a lot. But if the Red Sox trade the assets that are likely necessary to get him and then Bregman (who is younger than Marte) signs with Arizona, that would feel like another crappy outcome this offseason.

One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.
Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

Thinks he’s some kind of obituary-writing parodist. It’s vile, disgusting, purposefully hurtful.

I wrote dozens of extended obits as an intern in the early 2000s. Despite the always difficult circumstances it was probably the work I found the most meaning. Telling honest stories of a life’s impact.
This is the President of the United States.

This is disgusting, inhumane, and very consistent. This is exactly who he is.

Wrote a quick one about Johan Oviedo and yet another pitcher that isn't being evaluated on ERA and what the Red Sox likely see in his fastball that might make it a very interesting pitch right now

The big change the Red Sox saw in Oviedo
After a big trade for Sonny Gray, the next NL Central righty the Red Sox have added might seem considerably less interesting, given that new addition Johan Oviedo has spent most of five seasons for St...

Johan Oviedo is listed at 6-foot-6, 275 pounds. The Red Sox acquired him last night, after Tolle's comments in Tim's story below.

RJ Petit (6-8, 300) is Rule 5-eligible, as is Tyler Stuart (6-9, 250). If the Sox take either next Wednesday, they're officially all-in on mound moose.

Seems like a great kid and he has some tools, but I’m fine with the Sox trading The Password. That BB/K rate in Triple A was rough. He’s the kind of prospect the Pirates should take a chance on. But if he was playing regularly here in ‘26, something bad happened.

Pirates crack the code in acquiring Boston’s Jhostynxon Garcia in trade for Johan Oviedo
Oviedo's ceiling is probably as a No. 5 starter, but Adonys Guzman is a good get for Boston, and Garcia is the big prize for Pittsburgh.

I don't know how everyone sees the current pitching depth, but this is how I do. Been seeing people expecting Oviedo to be in the bullpen, which seems crazy. I don't think this whole group makes it to Fort Myers.
