It was great to sign some copies of our new #book 'Among the Giants, a year in Kew's Arboretum' at #KewPublishing @rbgkew.bsky.social last week. It was such a joy to spend the seasons with Kew's Tree Gang and write about Kew's beautiful trees, arboriculture and climate resilience.

Spent a lovely morning sharing tree tales from Kew's #Archives for the #UrbanTreeFestival in London. From paving the city's streets with sweet gum and jarrah wood to conserving our native black poplar. Kew's Archive is a rich seam of reports, maps, correspondence, scrap books and more 🌳🌲🌴💚

Great day at the London Archives sharing stories from the Kew Archives around plants and trade and London ports in the Victorian era. I offered a quirky story of how some London streets were once paved with sweet gum timber (Liquidambar styriciflua) from N America.

When you are trying (and failing) to finish your first journal article, sometimes you just have to go and spend time with a tree 😍 which wants nothing more of you than to admire how beautiful it is.
