Songdog LP Mirabilia Mundi out now https://orcd.co/mirabiliamundi
A few hours on one of the best beaches in Cornwall, followed by my first roast dinner of the season. Absolutely massive plate of roasties and Yorkshire pud. Good job I’ve walked 22,000 steps in the last 24 hours.

Quite the Atlantic onshore today, coming in from the northwest.

The north coast being its dramatic self.

Clay country

I always did like waking up to this view, the unmade lane and the little wood. It’ll be strange when my friends move and I can’t visit the house any more.

Rural night walking. I always enjoy the bus ride here but it was dark so couldn’t see a thing out of the window. Good job I still had some phone battery left because I’d forgotten the cardinal rule of village life: carry a torch. I only knew when I was passing the farm because I could smell it.

It’s that time of year again. Angels over Truro. Someone just asked me for the route to the station, which of course is as familiar as the back of my hand. I guess I must look like someone who knows where they’re at.

Always strange to pass the old flat. Well, one of them.
November 22, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Off I go again. Somewhat later than planned.
November 22, 2025 at 4:13 PM
No matter how much I have to do, there’s always time to watch the sea for a while.
November 22, 2025 at 11:59 AM
Might be November but there’s a robin and a chaffinch making a heck of a noise in the trees.
November 22, 2025 at 11:41 AM
Oddly enough it’s warmer outside than it was in the community centre
November 22, 2025 at 11:25 AM
Rain has stopped (briefly, I expect) and wind’s dropped a bit. Glad I wore wellies though.
November 22, 2025 at 11:17 AM
It’s a wild day to be going anywhere, and certainly not a workshop, but one must keep one’s appointments.
November 22, 2025 at 9:59 AM
It must’ve rained while I was in the cinema. The pavements are wet.Lucky to miss it. It’s freezing now though.
November 21, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Trap One, as always.
November 21, 2025 at 4:44 PM
Nippier out than I expected. Already regretting lack of an extra layer.
November 21, 2025 at 4:28 PM
I went back to sleep after, but this was the magnificent light at 7am. Those rooms opposite must have windows on both sides. See how the colours come right through?

5.30pm. East of the sun, west of the moon.
November 20, 2025 at 5:37 PM
I mean, really…
November 20, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Rain until dusk again. Beautiful though.

If you don’t already have a London Review of Books subscription, they have some very reasonable offers going on. Consistently high-quality writing and worth every penny.

The beach is all but deserted. Down on the far right side there’s someone with a dog in a disco collar. The white light is a swimmer. And I just saw a young man in swim shorts emerge from the sea and walk barefoot up the road as if he wasn’t being pelted with hailstones.

Still a little lighter later in the west
