I'm guessing the bananas I bought yesterday are the new crop and haven't been in storage for a while. The taste difference is quite remarkable.

Had a medical appointment today then did a bit of shopping so I was out for hours. Harry missed me. For the past hour he's been climbing all over me trying to sit on my chest and licking my beard, he is such a sook!

You know it's spring when South East Queensland gets hammered with 10cm hail stones. I considered moving to Maleny the hinterland before settling on SA. Glad I didn't now.

I'm baaaack, bitches!

What is up with people? I have just read a reply to a post on here where, without any irony, they used the phrase 'actively recreating'. I'm sorry, different cultures might have linguistic idiosyncrasies that we all recognise but that little gem is off the scale cringe.

Gmail upgraded a few days ago. I get confirmation emails monthly that I've paid bills or received money for rents. Now this f**king upgrade has decided what I had set up for years needs changing. Receipts found in spam. Others suddenly moved around. Talk about fumin'!!

Everyone has fresh water and treats this morning. Thought it was a bit sticky out there ( that's 28° centigrade just before 7am if you were wondering)

Woohoo! Might even ditch the trackie dacks for shorts (hint: No I won't!)

Podcast time: Where is George Gibney?
I've never welled up listening to a podcast until now. Long form investigation into an Irish swimming coach paedo. Harrowing destruction of young lives. Had to leave it for a few days to finish. Compelling though. 12 eps.

OK going to get a bit philosophical here drinking Sunday morning coffee. As I was posting about last nights storm a few minutes ago, I thought about the lightning strike map. Didn't seem odd but on reflection, could you imagine even 5 years ago being able to sit in a country house and pull that up?
November 22, 2025 at 10:11 PM
That was quite a show overnight. Meteors, clear starry night and an incredibly bangy loud dry thunderstorm. The lightning was breathtaking and blinding bright. Would have been nicer if it hadn't been between 11.30pm and 1am though.

Sad, this is less than 100km from me. Makes me mad though with statements like this "he would try to use organic products first" they only reduce mite load. Nope, that's selfish, nuke it with a recognised proven miticide. It will spread otherwise. Then its way too late.

Disappointed that the Darwin cyclone coverage doesn't have some mullet reporter outside hanging onto a lamp post reporting that its wet in torrential rain and cyclonic winds. It's just not Australian!!

What's with the telegraphing on here that your family has suffered a tragic loss and your going to be off line 'grieving' for days without stating what the loss is? Talk about farming for sympathy. Just go, we don't need you to be so needy! Pathetic.

All these micro/mini cars that are basically a dining chair on wheels do not look appealing at all. Sure they get great mileage and are good for the environment but in a highway crash at any speed they'd double as your final box too. How you can remain calm in them beats me.

Lots of cooked food pics turning up on here. Am I the only one that eats vegetables? Dinner to me isn't complete without 4 or 5 veg servings every meal. Even curry nights I do 2 side veg curries and always a raita and papri chaat.
Maybe its where I live with fresh veg always abundant, who knows.

70th year in 2026. I miss the old days of Katie Boyle (Hello Rome, London Calling!) and contestants not being allowed to move on stage. Bring back the orchestra. This will be my 61st contest!
Changes to the Eurovision Song Contest voting framework will be introduced for Vienna 2026:

Clearer rules around promotion, fewer maximum votes, juries returning to the Semi-Finals, and enhanced technical safeguards to be implemented ahead of May.

Started to listen to a new podcast this morning. Looked really interesting. Got one and a half eps in and had to ditch it. The narrator has the most irritating accent ever. Couldn't cope with another second of her nasal whine.

Catstanbul!
One of the better reasons to visit Istanbul. They even have street vending machines where for a couple of 50kr coins you can dispense portions of kitty biscuits for your new found best friends.

I know I watch a lot of international news programs. Lots of it is just rehashed from around the world. Occasionally there's a story that pricks interest like this one. Coffee without greenhouse gas emissions.

I don't know if they've increased the weight of freight trains but for the past few days my windows have been rattling as they go past 300m up the street. I could barely hear them a couple of days ago. Weird, I only get three or four day though.

Couldn't face news at lunchtime and this was on. Funny, moving, tragic drag, and typically bogan country Australia. It's on youtube, catch it if you can! www.sbs.com.au/voices/artic...
