And we're off
November 24, 2025 at 12:47 AM
Back here again. I think one more trip and it'll overtake Chicago as my second most used station
November 24, 2025 at 12:10 AM
Ooh, I bet you're wonderin' how I knew
'Bout your plans to make me blue
With some other guy you knew before
Between the two of us guys
You know I love you more
It took me by surprise, I must say
When I found out yesterday
Don't you know that I heard it through the grapevine
November 23, 2025 at 3:50 AM
Made it! They forgot there were sleeping car passengers getting off so they had a bit of a walk, but that's better than waiting for a reverse move
November 20, 2025 at 7:41 PM
We're actually on time today, much to my chagrin, but that means I can step out and cool off for a bit
November 20, 2025 at 5:05 PM
Being up on the bluff like this is cool

First time on the BNSF line going eastbound

Back at my favorite place in the world

Is there any other answer than Sky Railway?

Although before those I always hated the light yellow CNW variant
November 18, 2025 at 6:13 AM
Sage you posted the one good variant of P7 you gotta post the filth to prove your point

As I'm not able to launch a rocket big enough for my needs, I had to split it in two. First one is the main crew vessel and also the lander, second one holds additional supplies and will at least push us out there.

Realizing it would've been more efficient to just transfer fuel to the lander...

Minmus landing OTOH are a breeze.

While they had an engine failure, Jeb and Bob did manage to successfully orbit the Mun. That said, I always feel like I'm on the limit of what's possible with these mods. 2 crew minimum and limited parts mean I'm gonna get creative for the final landing.

But how about something even more obscure? How about a "production" run of 1? Behold: the GM6C and GM10B, two locomotives EMD slapped together because Conrail made some noise about electrifying their Philly to Pittsburgh main. Sadly, that project also went nowhere
November 16, 2025 at 10:51 PM
Probably the most tragic example was the National Railways of Mexico E60 order, the only true mainline electrification project in the past 80 years. Sadly, NdeM was privatized before the power was ever turned on, and most of the E60s were scrapped.
November 16, 2025 at 10:48 PM
In the early 2000s, the demand for coal dropped precipitously, and the locomotives were stored. The catenary was ripped out in 2004, and the line is currently mothballed.

Of the seven units built (remember that number), 6001 was saved, while the rest were scrapped. Supposedly 6001 still works
November 16, 2025 at 10:39 PM
Supposedly the lights in nearby towns would dim when all locomotives were at full whack.

The units actually had issues burning out traction motors. Unsurprising as 6khp was almost double what every other locomotive was putting out. They were later downrated, requiring 2 more units per train
November 16, 2025 at 10:36 PM
Trains operated with two units up front, 98 cars in the middle, and two more locomotives at the rear, and fought grades up to 1.5% on the 81 mile route. They also utilized an unconventional 50kV 60hz system that allowed them to power the whole route with just one substation
November 16, 2025 at 10:33 PM
BCR turned to GM Canada (GM was the parent company to EMD) to design and build an electric locomotive for them. What they created was an electric locomotive capable of generating 6000HP and weighing in around 400klbs, comparable to modern diesel-electrics, except this was in 1984
November 16, 2025 at 10:26 PM
The GF6C was a series of electric locomotives based on EMD's SD40 frame for use on BC Rail's Tumbler Ridge subdivision, which connected coal mines near the town of Tumbler Ridge to the rest of BCR, and ultimately to Prince Rupert for export. OVE was chosen due to long tunnels and steep grades.

One of the arguments the Class Is and AAR put up any time anyone talks about freight rail electrification is that there's no electric locomotives designed for US/NA freight service. While on the surface this claim is true, it's also not a big deal

To prove it, let's talk about this fucking thing
November 16, 2025 at 10:17 PM
I've been playing this game for over 10 years and Mun landings still make my heart rush

Turns out I brought *just* enough fuel to make it back. Gonna build some more margin into this before the next one 😅

Also landed next to the KSC by sheer coincidence!

For a brief moment, we can pretend it's still summer
November 15, 2025 at 1:24 AM
First minmus flyby, minmus lander sent and attempting first mun return mission, all at the same time
