Considering what's been going on with ICE/etc, I do not see large groups of younger US-born latinos sticking with the Republican party. The prop 50 results look a lot more like the underlying trends, and probably could be considered a regression to the mean.

and outside of 2024, that bloc has been moving the region from deeply red to pink, to shades of purple, before moving back to light red in 2024.

CA-21 and CA-22 are good reflections of that overall. Yes, they moved rightward in '24, but so did virtually every district in the US.

2024 was an outlier, compared to the broader trends, especially trends around congressional races. Nationwide, younger latinos shifted right, and Fresno and surrounding areas reflected that as well... but less than the US as a whole.

There are a lot of young latino voters in CV, and...

Also, the Central Valley voting patterns have been rapidly moving leftward over the last decade or so as 2nd/3rd generation residents find their voice, and as the national GOP becomes more interested in culture wars and racism than the more Californian republican fiscal policy of "F the poors".

Richvale is not in the central valley. It's up north near Chico, and the soil there is mostly clay -- useless for most "in the soil" crops. They grow rice up there because the oroville dam gives them access to heavily subsidized water that they need to flood the otherwise barren fields.

There was a decade there where we really took the power away from the rich and powerful, only for the worst of us to become the rich and powerful and refuse let go.

I wonder if this is what it was like for the hippie boomers, too.

I will be eternally be amused by one particular speaker manufacturer in the early 2000s who was loudly playing some of the most filthy reggaeton music in a booth.

It wasn't a bad demonstration of the quality of the speakers, but it did scream "nobody here speaks Spanish" even louder.

I've been to CES twice, and sadly I know that you're not kidding.

I always enjoyed the "we can OEM any of these things for your brand, 30,000 items at a time, delivery by Thursday" section back in the deep corners of Shenzhen Alley/Pavilion.

Strong "could eviscerate the hopes of the Rams during wild-card weekend" vibes here.

There is an ad-copywriter for Toto Toilets who is madly trying to write a script with this as a setup...

"NFL Punter Chris Kluwe has spent the last two days devouring three kilos of cheese from all over the world. Is the newly released Toto T-34000 shitter up to the challenge?"
