Though I respect Wil’s preferences, I’d like to mildly push back with my own preferences:

Yes to this. I don't particularly care if a game does something new or iterates over what past games have done in some way. The number of ways games can use dice or rules or whatever in a way I haven't seen before is vanishingly small anyway—it's so just about how the Legos are put together.
Just posted this in a comment but yeah I dislike when RPG are discussed as if they are somekind of technology that authors need to advance.

I still haven’t figured out how to interpret Ice Pikmin for my game Groundlings yet, so not sure when that update will come out
I haven’t played Pikmin 4 myself, but my oldest is currently playing through it so I may need to pick their brain
