Partway through the chest frame. Next is going to be the arm mounting assemblies and thrusters that go on the chest, but this is the core of the chest.

I really like it so far - and like I said, the armor is more than clear enough to see the inner details, exactly like I hoped.

I took some pics of the chest frame pieces I got done today before full assembly - but as you’ll see if you scroll down one more post, you can see a great deal of the detail through the armor.

But a look at even some pieces that are gonna be hidden inside the frame. I’ll now they’re there!

Couldn’t sleep so went down and sponged on the base coat for parts of Zeong’s chest frame, and resisting the urge and giving it until tonight to properly dry before I start adding details

Using Army Painter Fanatic Gunmeral, Vallejo Model Color Brass, and Vallejo Natural Steel for the base coats

Biggest advice I can give is one I sometimes struggle to follow myself: give your paints proper time to dry. Touch dry is not handleable dry is not assembly-ready dry. Patience is key, even if you really wanna see how it all looks.

I’ll try to remember to get some more WIP pics as I go along the process, especially before putting on the armor to really show it off. Got caught up in the moment and forgot to snap one here before the armor went on :P

It’s not quite as easy to see a lot of the detail put into it, especially on a picture, due to the head having a lot of layering. The body will definitely show it off more - but I’m glad it’s there.

And yes of course I used some fluorescent paints :P

The MG gets a bit of a bad rep. I still think it could use a 2.0 for a few points that frustrate me with it (the hands and ankles mainly) but overall it still looks and feels great. I’d just recommend getting a base and having it in the air rather than rely on being able to stand on its own.

"what separates Gundam Planet from other hobby stores" well for one we have one of the best anime artists in the world on staff so you'll never see us using AI-generated or clipart nonsense, which should count for something in a creativity-deprived landscape

The armor plates can fold Seward at a joint where I circled in red, up to around 90 degrees give or take, maybe a bit more. It doesn’t quite fully clear the shoulders but should give you some room to move her arms.

A big girl with big... cannons, #MegamiDevice Buster Doll Tank is all built and ready. I do love the design this one has, and the dark grey (semi-matte out of box) pairs with the bright (fluorescent!) green plastic really well - it's a great color scheme!

Overall this was really fun! I fell in love with this design when it was announced and while a simpler build than I expected (maybe coulda been a bit cheaper than it was) the end result with even minimal detailing looks amazing, with a lot of cool posing options. Definitely worth the build!

The other is the stand is just kinda okay. It's better than the absolutely useless balljoint peg thing that older Megami Device kits come with, but without a bracing point between the two arms, it's prone to drooping if you don't position it just right for aerial poses. Still, not too bad.

Overall there's only two real points of complaint I had about this build.

The first is the neck joint - it's nice, but the part connected into the head is MUCH stronger than the smaller joint connecting into the body, and it pops out all the time. It's not a make or break, but annoying.

It's not the most obvious, but one cool accent I decided to do was use fluorescent green paint for the panel lines on the armor. You can kinda see it (it's not super vibrant when it's dried), but it glows beautifully under UV light! And as a nice bonus, the green plastic included fluoresces too!

And as mentioned (and shown in the first pic) you can disconnect the fuel tanks and pull off the lower parts of the arm armoring, and turn it into forearm mounted cannons.

I was worried about the weight, but her arms hold it up pretty well! No real issues there, which was a nice surprise.

A nice bit of tech is when you close it up for the full protective cloak, the parts in front actually click together, so it holds without any gap. But it separates easy enough you don't really need to worry about breaking anything.

I like the way it looks, her eyes JUST poking above the collar

Tank comes with a pretty cool set of gear - a large bit of an armored cloak that has these badass giant fuel tanks on it. However those can function both as moveable protective armor, and detach to use the fuel tanks as massive beam cannons.

Here's the open/normal version of the armor.

My order’s through BBTS so it’s the waiting game, but nice to know it’s worth it.

Do you feel it needs or benefits from top coating at all? Or are the pieces finished solid out of box?

Always funny to see the cross platform same pics show up lol

Your photos turned out amazing! I really hope I can get mine soon, she looks incredible. I’m also super happy to hear the build and overall process are on par with the looks - too often you get kits that look amazing but are an absolute chore to build.

Hah! I didn’t realize that was you! I’m SoulReaverDan over on the Reddit, we’ve already been discussing this kit :P
