This is going to be a thread of my final build posts for 2025! I’ll be adding them in as I complete them, but this gives a nice easy way to see my builds and read my thoughts on them!

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (2025)
Episode 5 - Nyaan Doesnt Know about Kira-Kira
20:25.160
Started on the legs - not quite finishing them, the painting and letting it dry adds a bit. I’m looking the gold as the joint/screw color, it’s a nice pop!

The upper leg parts are also dry brushed, I need to let the lower leg parts (still unassembled) dry more before hitting them tomorrow.

Given the recent news, this was the first thing that popped in my head 😂
Arms, waist, and head added on - the head frame is like four parts so it was pretty quick. The arms are relatively simple too frame wise, but I looked and there’s a good bit of armor layering that’ll get added on. Same with the waist.

Hand painting is taking longer per part, but it’s rewarding!
Doing hand painting and lots of manual details on the Mk-V is making it take longer than usual, but it’s kinda satisfying too, so I certainly don’t regret it :)
My boomer trait is that if ANYTHING answers the phone that isn’t a person or an answering machine, I lose all composure. Your personal cell phones DO NOT need AI powered call logging and answering services.
For the process here, I mostly panel line first to get the details in, then apply hand painting using a few different paints - mostly experimenting with Citadel, but also some tried and true Testors/Vallejo/Markers.

Once the details and paint are all dry, a light dry brushing to lightly weather.
The MG Mk-V has been started. Going a little fun with it and building the frame first! It’s a unique one for sure.

Also trying my hand at more detail on the frame, even if most will get covered!

After some positive results with the Citadel paints, I grabbed some more today (mostly shades or colors I haven’t found good hand painting versions of in cheaper paint lines) to use. I’m doing more detail work on the Mk-V frame (some pics tonight) to practice more for the Zeong! :)

the thing with Mobile Suit Gundam, assuming you're going in largely unspoiled like I did, is that you kind of expect it to be a sort of goofy extended toy commercial and then you get punched in the stomach by one of the greatest and most influential animated shows of all time
HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE
That is a BIG sword

I need to watch IBO.
I’d love an Exia 2.0, or really a MG 2.0 of any of Setsuna’s suits.

PG Qan[T] is my pipe dream kit for it.
Huh, never noticed that. But I also haven't gotten to ZZ yet, so... makes sense
The cool China-exclusive variants are always a bit of a bummer, especially when it goes beyond recolors (like some of them) and actually get unique resculpts :/

This is just mecha pornography. Good LORD.

God, why does this have to be Rich People expensive?! I'm never gonna get to build this! AUGH. This is the most painful dumb thing. Dude...
(I'm kinda excited to see what 2027 brings for us for the 00 anniversary, assuming the planet and civilization as we know it still exists in two years.)
It all blended a bit together for me, but you're right, the OG from the movie reads as pure black compared to the dark blue.

Wouldn't surprise me also if the move to dark blue was just because they thought it "felt" right to have the Gundam with blue on it somewhere.
I love when real-world stuff like this is integrated into designs, or used as a way to make it work.
I'll start the proper build in a day or two - won't really have time to work on it tonight. But planning to do some light detailing on the frame, not a full work since so much gets covered, but I wanna show off a bit of it, and practice more for the RG Zeong.

Look forward to it!
Runner I(x2) is the same frame blue.

Runners J1/J2 are white, both for accent points and to provide color separation for the white lines within the parts - that's all plastic!

And finally runners K1/K2 are dark blue used for the weapons and accessories, and a few accent points.
Runner A is multi colored, red, yellow, clear, and grey for some armor parts

Runner B, C1/C2, D(x2) and E(x2) are grey mostly frame and joint parts.

Starting with runners F, G, and H(x2) we have the unique slightly light blue-grey used as the main armor scheme.
Oh and fun fact, these are PERFECT GRADE beam saber effects. I grabbed the ones from my PG Unicorn Perfectibility to compare, and literally the same size and molding.
Surprisingly, all of the runners (besides polycaps) are polystyrene (PS) plastic! I was expecting ABS for the frame parts, but that's really nice because it means panel lining and detailing is much easier!

As mentioned, manual, polycaps, stickers, decals, and wires for the incom units.
