Nathan Gill sentenced to 10.5 years for taking bribes to promote Russian talking points (something Farage apparently did for free).

Judge notes "grave betrayal of the trust placed in you by the electorate".

Good to see at least one far-right Reform crook held to account.

A very high proportion of British families now comprise or include people from ethnic minorities (as spouses, children, in-laws, cousins...). This assimilation infuriates the racist far right, not least because it limits their appeal among much of the electorate.
More than half of ethnic minority Brits say the England flag has now become a racist symbol, with Brits of all colours now tending to say the raising of the flag is mostly about expressing anti-migrant, or anti ethnic-minority sentiment

Right-wing commentators like to claim the Greens' stellar rise in the polls won't be borne out by real-world elections. They couldn't be more wrong. The political landscape has completely changed.

Incredible that the main interview following up on Hallett's report is with Michael Gove, following an earlier one with Carl Hennigan

These people were responsible for the tragedy and in no way reflect the findings of the report or what we, as citizens, think about how our government performed

The callousness, arrogance & chaos of Boris Johnson & his government of self-serving chancers & right-wing ideologues led to so many needless deaths.

Johnson is now rewarded with very large sums for writing crap in the Daily Mail and giving after-dinner speeches to bankers.
Listening to my old sparring partner Michael Gove defending the record on Covid of the Govt of which he was a part, while Justin Webb feeds him pathetic patsy questions.
Let’s be clear: the verdict of the official Covid report is absolutely damning.

An extremely likely scenario. Parties of the left & centre-left need to be thinking hard about electoral alliances.

No chance that Labour will be doing this under Starmer's leadership - they'd rather throw the election to Farage than admit they can't achieve an outright majority.
Strongly suspect that this is what will happen here in 28/9. Tories will replace Badenoch with a leader prepared to try it and Farage (as per 2019 but this time as the senior partner) will continue to deny he'll do a stand-down deal - right up until the point he does one.

To make work optional, you would need universal basic income (UBI) - and I cannot see Musk championing such a policy.
This is an...interesting...economic theory:

"...the only way...to prevent America from going bankrupt is AI and robotics...

Robots like Optimus will make working "optional" in the future...

We'll have...universal high income," Musk said.

YouGov polling for @bestforbritain.org shows that most people intending or considering a vote for Reform are in favour of a wealth tax - which is Green Party policy

Nigel Farage & Richard Tice are, of course, vehemently opposed to taxing the ultra-rich whose interests they represent.

Kirill Dmitriev, with whom Witkoff is cooking up a "peace plan", is the former Goldman Sachs banker & Putin crony who met with the infamous mercenary Erik Prince to establish a Putin-Trump back-channel ahead of Trump's 1st inauguration.

None of this bodes well for Ukraine.
The Trump team is secretly drafting a 28-point peace plan for Ukraine in coordination with Russia. Led by envoy Steve Witkoff, the plan covers peace terms, security guarantees, and US-Russia-Ukraine relations. Talks have included Kirill Dmitriev, with quiet outreach to Kyiv and European allies.

The UK isn’t a “soft touch” on asylum.

UK asylum seeker benefits are similar to European neighbours

No right to work before 12 months (it’s 6 months in France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands)

UK settlement after 5 years (it’s 3 or 4 in Germany)

Let’s cut out the alarmist rhetoric.
