Father was a harsh man.Tough disciplinarian. Once, he caught me smoking cigarettes. As punishment he locked me in a cupboard, & wouldn't let me out until I'd eaten the entire contents of Knowsley Safari Park. Including the gift shop. He never told me why.
I genuinely can't tell if using the word 'deal' is clever by him, or not. Does it help continue the false belief that there was a deal that didn't leave us worse off, or is it canny in the sense that he's not actually telling its supporters they were totally wrong, and therefore angering them less?

I understand that, and I know you have to get traffic, but their opinions/'news' aren't worthy of inspection. Much like opinions of N. Dorries, or guy in town who drinks paint. The more you go down that path the more people you attract who don't care about the good journalism of which you're capable

Sorry to have to say it, but mentioning Football Insider serves only to diminish your credibility, and will likely scare off any fan with even a passing interest in verisimilitude. Which is a shame, because you seem like a good bloke, who doesn't deserve that.
