I understand why people get annoyed at geographical inconsistency in tv shows but surely I’m not alone in finding it more amusing than annoying. I love it when I’m watching something set in Melbourne and they turn a corner in Thornbury and they’re suddenly at the beach.

Every year people post that old tweet about turning off motion smoothing on your parents’ tv and every year I think: what if the orphan Oliver Twist reads that tweet?

When my daughter was seven and really into One Direction I told her they were named after a Malcolm McLaren/Maurice Starr type figure called Reginald Direction who had put the band together. He even used to leave little notes for her.

RIP Udo Kier. Kind of mind blowing array of roles, eg. during the period he was appearing in Lars Von Trier’s Riget he was also in the Pamela Anderson movie Barb Wire and an episode of Nash Bridges.

My occasional prod to say I wrote a book of short horror stories, and they're really fucking good (said by other people with inarguably exceptional taste)

Shitty people get what's coming to 'em. But also, cannibalism! Ghost children! Revenge! Grave robbing! You know, the fun stuff.

Watching the erotic thriller Call Me. Protagonist eating an orange when she receives a call from her mysterious stalker. They proceed to have phone sex involving a lot of sexy orange squeezing etc. Good thing she wasn’t eating souvlaki or tucking into a big bowl of borscht when he called.
