Yeah it’s from when US soldiers were stationed here in the war. Rhyming slang for septic tank. It’s had a resurgence as a way of being dismissive towards Americans on social media but it’s not usually intended maliciously, more like scoring petty points against an older sibling.

My feeling is that things should have a strong sense of the place they’re set and not fudge the big things too much, but some geographical license is FINE.
