I wear high vis, use lights, and a bike lane when biking to work, and crossing the highway is still sketchy.

My record is three near misses in one crossing (right turning vehicle, left turning, and another left turning all almost hit me in the same crossing).

Honestly boycotting the World Cup would be the most effective and probably the least disruptive of all of the options available to Europe. I’m not sure how you can send teams and fans to contribute to a spectacle designed entirely to celebrate a guy trying to invade your territory.

My wife, baby, dog, and I made a very slow 30ish hour journey back home to the interior yesterday and today. Seems to me the infrastructure linking the lower mainland to the rest of Canada reaaaally isn't built to withstand the new climate normal.
As the Fraser Valley floods again, the federal government has walked away from promises made after the 2021 floods. But there have been some improvements at the local level, including co-operation with Washington State. @tyolsen.bsky.social reports: thetyee.ca/News/2025/12...

Package from Ontario: 11 days
Package from Japan: 3 days

Both express shipping, both private shipping.

I'm not an economist, but I feel like if we want Canadians to buy Canadian maybe we should improve cross country shipping options?

Although I'm not surprised 20% of car crash fatalities are cyclists and pedestrians, I'm disappointed the government response is *shrug*.

UPDATE: Canada has announced that it has lost its measles elimination status.

This is a direct result of the increase in anti-vax disinformation, which has caused large, sustained outbreaks in the country over the last year.

The Jays' run drove home to me how much I've enjoyed getting into F1 *without* having a specific team/driver to root for.

-20 drivers 10 teams to watch
-A battle for mid table can be equally as exciting as podium
-Sunday morning races that don't interfere with dinner + bedtime
-Cars go vroooooom

Unless, apparently, they're public sector workers. Those ones can get ****ed I guess?

3 hours late to a meeting you called with nothing new to say is unbelievably disrespectful.

If the wedding singer came out today:

-It would be set in 2012
-Zac Efron is well older than Adam Sandler was, so male lead would be someone like Timothé Chalamet or Tom Holland

I would totally watch a wedding singer remake set in 2012

Combination of a) the Canucks and b) my wife

A) supporting a pro sports team who has yet to win a title is time consuming and emotionally draining. In contrast you can watch without supporting one team, and always something happening during the race (eg mid field battle)
So what got you into F1?

Admin here, for me it was watching the YouTube highlights of the 2017 British Grand Prix. I caught a few races on TV in the early-2010s, but it was the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix when I started to watch them live regularly
