"Australia arrests more climate protesters than any other country in the world"
Just here to remind you that, with “net zero”, we’re having a meaningless argument about a meaningless frame in order to distract from the single most important and meaningful issue confronting us.

This is politics today.

We should stop wasting time and energy and build a new system.

Thank you for writing this, @timhollo.bsky.social. I've been very critical of COPs for a long time, and you've articulated the fundamental issues with precision.

"A globe of sovereign states is no true globe...a globe of communities acting in concert for the climate can make the COPs obsolete."
All (climate) COPs are bastards.

I've been threatening to write this for years. Here it finally is.

"Just as communities, acting together in concert for common security, can make the cops obsolete, a globe of communities acting in concert for the climate can make the COPs obsolete."
All (climate) COPs Are B*stards
On the need to "Defund the COPs" The ACAB slogan has always jarred with me somewhat. I understand (and respect) it as a systemic critique, intended to reveal that it's impossible for any individual,...

ACAB includes climate COPs

Want to read a piece I’ve been slowly working on for ages that explains why I say that? It’ll be going live tonight, I hope.

No indication of how long for. Must be a devastating blow for fishermen approaching Xmas.

By me: One in every 25 participants at Cop30 is a fossil fuel lobbyist, outnumbering every country delegation apart from Brazil, and as Indigenous peoples struggle to get a seat at the table

In advance of the likely abandonment of Net Zero by the Liberal Party I have some personal news.

I will not be competing at any future Olympic Games.

Noone thought I would be, nevertheless, big news.

Basic psychology in this book; the best way to get someone to do something is get them to do it; then the brain rationalises why they did it. Same with good #democratic people's #participation in #government. #auspol.
So if we inspire, encourage & engage people in #livingdemocracy, it will flourish.

- A 46% false fraud rate
- Anguish for families who were wrongly accused of fraud and had benefits stopped
- Months of additional work for government, setting up a hotline, correcting false fraud

Whitlam Dismissal take

The greatest achievement of the Dismissal has been the crushing of the ALP’s ambition to actually bring a better world into being.

Hawke sealed the deal by making the mark of success decent management of a capitalist economy.

Now it’s just ambition to be in government.
