i think this is true! many cis people lean very heavily on assigned gender as a personality trait/existential framework, which trans existence inherently destabilizes. so it comes off as a personal existential threat

there is something so voyeuristic and exploitive about how these super early transition girls get catapulted into the public eye as the face of trans people—the public reacts shitty, they eventually get eaten up, we feel annoyed and resentful—everyone loses! feels by design
