Rubio said yesterday it is time to move beyond the (Ukraine) war in the interest of establishing a triangular relationship between the United States, Russia and China. Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia, anyone?

Imagine the goodwill Britain can generate from the world if we would only loan some items back to countries of origin for display and study by locals. Imagine the contexts they would discover, new histories that could be written. Britain's image would change instantly and would be respected again.

We left X and joined Bluesky because those against our parks said, “If you don’t like it, leave.” So we did. And now they’re saying, “No, come back so we can say mean things to you—it makes us feel important.”

The academic community has moved to BlueSky en masse.
It's interesting to see which politicians and journalists have joined them, interested in evidence-based decision making rather than being driven by ideology & donors.

This pitiful forelock-tugging across our society is getting worse, not better. Our newspapers these days invariably side with the rich against the poor, the strong against the weak. I’ve seen stories that are 100% accurate taken down from online because someone powerful has complained.

I was getting my son ready for school at 6am, and got hooked to this paper!

Definitely a nice read with refreshing ideas and recommendations.

A couple of quick reflections:

1/ the paper criticizes a-theorerical approaches to barrier-enabler assessment in #impsci. However, it never mentioned...🧵
Important to combine tractable research questions with a complex systems approach to conceptualising problems & their solutions or mitigations. This paper is definitely worth reading.
Loving this paper 'Rethinking barriers and enablers'. How many thousands of weak research studies have reduced complex change to 'identifying and addressing barriers and enablers'? Here's how to do better!

Just a reminder of what trade deals “with the rest of the world” have done for us compared with what we have lost and continue to lose…
