#writers #queerwriters how do you deal with rejection? I know I’m not supposed to take it personally but it’s hard not to. they say there’s all sorts of factors involved but at the end of the day if the story was actually good it wouldn’t matter. how do I not feel so worthless?

Generally just never know what to post on here but I finished a story and have been working on a couple other ones, not sure if they’re actually good ideas though

One is a little experimental and hard to pin down genre wise, the other is just a magical girl riff

I haven’t talked about my reading or really anything on here lately, in part because I’ve just been reading a lot of mid stuff aside from some nonfiction, but I did just start John Langan’s Sefira and Other Betrayals which is exciting

so now I’m going to start Them by Joyce Carol Oates, who I’ve never read before (though I’ve seen Sweet Talk, based on 1 of her short stories). I basically chose this at random but I’m excited to see what’s up

I just finished Naomi Novik’s Spinning Silver, which was very beautiful. Very “being told a story as you drift off to sleep warm and safe” vibe, which was nice for a change

straining hard not to be annoying by replying "they do not want to" after every post i see wondering why the democrats are not scoring this or that obvious open goal, but yes the answer is that they do not want to

The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran.

Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...
The Young, Inexperienced Engineers Aiding Elon Musk's Government Takeover
Engineers between 19 and 24, most linked to Musk’s companies, are playing a key role as he seizes control of federal infrastructure.

finished reading Garth Greenwell’s Small Rain for my book club. I liked it a lot to start, but then it kinda lost me when it became about the trials and tribulations of home ownership. gonna be interesting talking about this in a room full of people my age lol

I have this rule now that if I get a writing rejection I buy myself dinner

I have four things currently submitted, so that’s potentially four dinners!

behind on my yearly reading goal bc I’m listening to Cyteen by CJ Cherryh, which is a 36 hour audiobook. I’m about 15 hours in and I like it a lot so far: great POV work and a pretty fascinating nature/nurture discussion.
