Why does time on a digital billboard cost just as much as on an old-style, uh, analog billboard? You have less time on it (since it rotates through ads) and there're no printing or posting costs.

Shit is rigged.

I wonder how much a hacker costs, instead.

I was four, and my brother brought home a record he was very excited about.

"Why's it all black?" I asked on our way to the basement. He explained, "shut up," and put it on.

The iron bell tolling and into guitar riff for "Hell's Bells" is the first musical experience I can remember.
First song you remember hearing as a kid?

It was '61 or '62, and mum had the '45. Been in my head ever since.

If that had been me instead of Patrick Combs, they'd NEVER see that $95k again.

Well, that was hands-down probably the worst book I've ever finished. I probably shouldn't, but I'm going to leave a review on Goodreads to justify the one-star rating. I think this is the first time since reading one of the non-Frank Herbert Dune books that I've been actually angry with an author.

"Well, it all started two Thanksgivings ago (that's two years ago on Thanksgiving) when my friend and I went up to visit Alice at the restaurant."

I still reminisce about when I recited this to Thiago, who had never heard it and sat while I spooled the bullshit to the courtroom scene. It was great.

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

And the dance begins again. Every time I order a proof for a book, I get the same "order delayed because of supply chain issues" email, which feels incredibly disingenuous because, uh, Amazon is the supplier.

It's a good time to check out my work because more is coming up and it's always nice to be in the know ✨️
Time for a new pinned post because I'm working writer and I need to remember that.

I write about vampires and werewolves doing violent things to eugenicists and fascists, and also about lesbians either being monsters or dealing with monsters (however you might define “monster”).

In my reading rotation, it's time for a re-read (I've read three new books in a row and need something to settle *back* into) and normally November is LORD OF THE RINGS time, but I skipped that last year for some Robert Graves, instead. That was nice.

Trump says he didn't know who Changpeng Zhao was when he pardoned him.

Most transparent administration.

Hey, remember when Musk said he'd donate $6B to solve world hunger if the WFP would give him a plan for how it could be done?

Did you know he actually donated $5.7B… to himself. The Musk Foundation, in 2021, held almost $10B in assets. It gave a total of $160M to charities.

,,, another NO CONTEXT INSPIRATION set of pictures, but this time from something not yet released. For those who already know, of course you know, lol. And for those who don't, you'll know soon enough. Heh. Heh ha. Hee hee. Ha ha, ho. Heh.

(One of these is tangential, and made itself clear after.)

Is it irony? I just ran across an ad saying "We Hire Freelancers" with a list of the things they hire for, but the ad... well, it's AI slop. Like... is this just mixed messaging? Or is it blind irony?

I don't know the right word for this.

I have *just now* realized that "you won't be able to see your daily streams" also means I don't get to see ANYTHING at ALL.

How are we supposed to know anything? It seems fucky. Imagine if KDP was like, "yo, you can publish this book, but good luck knowing how many you sold."
