Goodreads is absolutely full of people who don't actually care that much about review bombing things for the slightest provocation. In some respects, it's more honest than Amazon in that the hate is allowed but authors get 1 stars for their politics, hatred of the genre, or just because.

Enjoying ALONE IN THE DARK (2024) a great deal and surprised it didn't do better. It's basically Resident Evil 2 with some missing features but almost as good as a great game is still a very good game. The Lovecraftian elements of course immediately sold me. #videogames #AloneInTheDark #horror

A funny Legend of Korra vs. Last Airbender thing I noticed: Aang would have been able to handle the philosophical issues of the Equalists, Earth Kingdom, and so on well due to being a natural diplomat. The spiritual stuff too. Korra would have just made a b-line to killing the Fire Lord.

I love the idea of competing groups of adventurers fighting over a vast underground hellscape like a Mad Max underground.
REVIEW: The World Below

Man, I am racking my brain trying to think of something I wish I'd written. I think the closest I get is thinking I could do something similar better? Admittedly, I have been in a serious reading slump since finishing leading the r/Fantasy Dresden Files read-along a few years ago. 😅
An odd question for Bluesky's authors: What is a book you'd wish you'd written?

For me, it's JOHN DIES AT THE END by Jason Pargin. Why? Because as a Lovecraft fan and comedian, he does what I could never do and managed to make cosmic horror funny. It's like, "Why didn't I think of that?"

A lot of people have a hard time dealing with the fact that the characters they find most interesting are bad people. They think being fascinated by terrible behavior and decisions is indicative of moral failings on their part - and then watch reality tv without a care.

Paul kills way more people than the Empire ever does and he does so for a religion that he knows was made up by the Bene Gesserit to control the masses. He did this because he wanted revenge and accepted the consequences. It doesn't make Paul a hero, it does make him interesting to read about. #Dune

Man, #BlackFriday is annoying when shopping. I was really wanting to get a copy of Alone in the Dark but they didn't reduce the price from 40 bucks. Then I decided to do it for my birthday....and found out that the DLC version with everything was on sale for 25. This is the second time its happened.

The Prequels have the cartoon and comics to essentially polish a diamond in the rough. They are not good movies but the side material illustrate Lucas had IDEAS that were good. Scrape off the burnt parts and it's a series with things to say. Not so much the sequels. #StarWars #StarWarsPrequels

My favorite Korra scene is when they ask her to play it cool during Season 2 in order not to tip off the baddie and she immediately kidnaps a judge to interrogate like Batman.

"SWEAR TO ME!"

Perfect subversion of how female characters usually roll.

My only other contribution to Vampire: The Masquerade aside from updating some Gary Kindred for LET THE STREETS RUN RED were three characters for CHILDREN OF BLOOD: The Operator, Faith Corrigan, and Misery. Obviously, they did their own twists on the ideas. #vamily #vampirethemasquerade #WOD

THE BOOKS OF CTHULHU series started with the Tales of the Al-Azif and Tales of Yog-Sothoth. They were expected to just be two standalone anthologies but it's since blossomed to a twelve volumes. I think it's because my friends love horror so much. #horrorwritingcommunity #cthulhu #indiebooks #books

This picture never bothered me because, I shitzu you not, I ran a Call of Cthulhu adventure close to it. Don't believe me? It was a ballet in 1920s Paris that was an adaptation of the King in Yellow. The ballerinas went mad and started slaughtering everyone in the audience. #DND #dungeonsanddragons

Look, when I say "May you be eaten last!" that's a compliment in my faith. Some folks say that's "evil." I'm sorry you feel that way. But, let's be honest, if you were the key and the gate, why would you settle for some milk toast deranged cultists who only attends sacrifices once a week? #cthulhu
I understand this relationship to the Cult of Cthulhu. Personally, I practice a one to one relationship with Nyarlathotep. You don't need underwater temples or esoteric shrines to communicate with him, only faith as well as the occult power of dreaming. #humor #cthulhu #lovecraft
