Can’t wait to work hard for @aparnafordc.bsky.social to be CM for Ward 1 and @cmlewisgeorgew4.bsky.social to be Mayor!!!
Thank you to everyone who came out to the @workingfamilies.org DC launch last night!

In the face of authoritarianism and the soaring cost of living, we’re building a better future for working families 💪🏾

I sure wish we had an opposition party.
Chuck Schumer just announced demands on DHS to avoid shutdown:
1. End roving patrols, tighten rules on warrants
2. Enforce accountability & unified code of conduct for agents
3. No more masks & require bodycams

There are *already* standards on much of this.

The issue is DHS isn't following them!

It's frustrating for some that @dcpublicschools.bsky.social is closed for a third day, but recall that roughly 72% of school kids in D.C. attend a school other than their by-right option. (So they attend an out-of-boundary school, a citywide school, or a charter school.) Many kids travel.

It’s 2026. This current Era feels like the most unstable period I’ve experienced. We’re dealing with disruptive technologies that are running out way ahead of regulations and the culture’s ability to handle them. Know nothing populism is rampant. Yet, I’m pretty hopeful despite the chaos. 1/x

Love this post. The Democratic Party needs more Grants and fewer McClellans.

Sir, that’s called a sabbatical.
From the Oklahoma U student paper: the school is now saying it will automatically suspend faculty (with pay) in response to student complaints

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

I love this essay for how it identities the need for something truly radical and unifying in the political left and why we haven’t gotten there yet.
In response to Matt Yglesias piece: If you zoom out, today’s so-called “postliberal” politics looks less like a break with liberalism than the predictable product of it.

The Henhouse Liberalism Built
A response to Matthew Yglesias. What he calls “postliberalism” is often liberalism’s own elite, anemic offspring.

Trump’s threats against Democratic legislators are so severe that Chuck Schumer is considering sending a strongly worded letter to the White House. He probably won’t, though. Too risky.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Came here to say this, but Jamelle Bouie has this covered. 👇
When the Democratic tent includes candidates like Spanberger and Mamdani, there is no crisis, or fight, for the party. IT’S A COALITION, NOT A POINT ESTIMATE.
i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

I get a lot of joy out of being a compassionate professor. Helping students improve their writing and knowledge is a blessing. My classrooms are happy, fun, at times serious, intense, respectful places of learning. The right will never understand, because for us, teaching is a form of love, not hate

I have many thoughts about Charlie Kirk—and perhaps even more about the white elites, including some on the left, who insist we can’t hold multiple realities at once. We can. And we must.
