New alliances will be formed and Canada will play a central part in that. I don't know if the US will ever recover from this. Not without drastically changing the political system and getting rid of the Electoral College and the massive influence of big money on politics.

We had a customer at the shop who was concerned with what was happening in the US... but made it clear he approves of ICE and deporting "illegal" immigrants.
I tried to explain why the latter is a big cause of the problems in the US and even made progress while being civil.

The Fraser Institute, the Canadian conservative "thinktank", issued its "Human Freedom Index". It ranked Canada at 12th, dropping by 0.03 pts between 2019 and 2023, and the US at 14th, dropping by 0.04 pts.
