The unspoken implication that it's reasonable enough for a state to deport or slaughter whoever they want if they're in violation of "the law," is so fucking sickeningly stupid.

They can't be pretending to not know how obsessed with codifying legal pretenses the fucking *nazis* were, right?
To avoid the possibility Holocaust remembrance might lead to empathy for migrants, Trump's antisemitism envoy claims Anne Frank "was in Amsterdam legally."

In reality, Margot Frank received a summons to go to a labor camp on July 5, 1942. After ignoring this call, they were in Amsterdam illegally.

"Thou Shalt Not" by Whitey Schafer, taken in 1940, satirized the Hayes Code by putting ten violations in a single image. Life magazine published it in a 1946 article about Hollywood censorship. #godardgirl

A lot more people should know about the bravery Marimar Martinez displayed in the midst of Chicago’s occupation and the murder of two observers in MSP. They tried to kill her, shooting her 5 times, and it’s a miracle she’s alive to push for transparency like this after being persecuted by the DOJ.

AMAZING DRAGON (1982)
Acrylic on Watercolor Board - 30" x 19"

When Amazing Stories commissioned me to do the cover for the premier issue of their newly redesigned magazine, I decided that the painting should encompass both the realms of science fiction and fantasy. 1/3

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

"They should coordinate with local law enforcement, pick these people up in the middle of the night when they're not suspecting it"

Walz is capitulating to fascists and encouraging night raids. Genuinely disgusting. Why would anyone settle for this?
