If they were, we wouldn't be here.
The REASON they are NOT in charge, is because voters stripped them of all power & handed the House and the Senate to the GOP, who control both chambers (and the White House, and the SCOTUS).

And no, don’t expect me, either as an academic or as a disabled person, to be passive and ‘nice’ in light of this egregious ableism. It’s also a real choice for the Atlantic to write this at this moment in time when the fascists in charge are trying to destroy all of higher ed.
