Train ride shift beer, Fässla Bambergator. Long brew day, triple mashed stout (actually did the 1st mash yesterday and mashed into that wort this morning) for a preboil, 100% malt gravity of 35.7°/ 1.157. Went into the fermenter at 40°

A man of my word, bus ride shift beer is a revisit of the Huppenforfer Pils. Much better, nice crisp bitterness, but still a bit of a decaying leaves character

Train ride shift beer, Menno Olivier (newish project from De Molen founder now based in Spain) The Gaze, barleywine aged in Wyoming Whiskey barrels. Very tasty, soft, caramelly barleywine. Pretty old school in it's somewhat reasonable finishing gravity but still nice and rich

Bus ride shift beer, back on that bock train with Sonnen Bock. Totally fine, nothing particularly stands out but it's very balanced and drinkable. I like it much more halfway through the bottle than at the beginning, when it seemed a bit middling.

Bus ride shift beer, Huppenforfer Zwickel. Easily the best of the 3 we have from Huppenforfer. Bright, spicy hops, minerally, crisp bitterness, clean bready pils malt. Good enough I'll need to revisit the Pils in case it was just me.

And now Fässla Bambergator. Someone told me this is DE's strongest doppelbock (seems dubious at only 8.5%) and it's the strongest you can brew under Reinheitsgebot (obviously not true). Toasty, some caramel, alcohol sweetness and balance. Leaner but bigger than the Tegernseer. Both very nice

Bus ride shift beers, a couple of doppelbocks. First up is the relatively weak (5.6%) Tegernseer Quirinus. Actually quite full flavored, soft, sweet, and toasty with a bit of caramel, and a crisp bitterness to finish.

And now the Vollbier from Schwester Doris, which is bright and crisp and beautiful

Bus ride shift beer, Huppenforfer Vollbier. Though it has some of the same musty hay grain character as the Pils I had last night that I didn't even finish, it works better. The Pils was a bit rough

Bus ride shift beer. I need to get up early to bottle a big stout so I wasn't planning on drinking anything but this 0.9% beer will work

Filled some bourbon and rye barrels. Crazy but I don't think I've filled a barrel in 3 years, maybe longer

Walking home shift beer

Bus ride shift beer. Been awhile since I had this one. Nice roasty, hoppy character, though would be much nicer in a glass with some carb knocked out of it.

Bus ride shift beer, Rochefort 10 for the 2nd night in a row. Perhaps ill advised but this now counts as research
