Public relations and communications pro turned public educator. I teach English and journalism at a Title 1 school — it gives me purpose and allows me to live out this mantra: Always learn something.
As soon as we can figure out how to convince them there is a way to market, sell, and profit from reduced class sizes, it will happen.
Every decade, we hear "the kids can't read or write!"

Interventions that don't work are proposed. Those that do work are ignored: reducing class sizes, making kids & families feel safe at school and welcome, becoming a community resource.

When their expensive reform fails, they yell at us again.

For all the people who think we can cut out teaching “outdated” skills because technology or “kids don’t use it”: THIS is why it matters.

e.g., Cursive writing builds pathways in the brain, the ink on the paper is less important. ELA skills build critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
The phrase “the dog that didn’t bark” comes from Arthur Conan Doyle’s story Silver Blaze.

In it, Holmes points out that a key clue in a murder case was that the watchdog didn’t bark during the crime, meaning the perpetrator must have been someone familiar to the dog.

The media is missing it!👇

@govpritzker.illinois.gov … which talk show will you be on this weekend to tell the nation how you are protecting residents of Illinois and our rights?

100+ peaceful protestors arrested by ISP, CCSO, and BPD.

ZERO violent ICE street gang agents arrested for assaults committed on Illinois streets.
This picture says everything about the state of our nation right now, peaceful clergy being arrested and forced face-down on the pavement.

21 more arrests of protestors and faith leaders at Broadview yesterday by ISP, CCSO, and BPD.

4 police officers reportedly injured due to THEIR OWN ACTIONS, not actions of protestors.

ZERO arrests of men assaulting Illinois residents in Evanston.

Little Greg’s Operation Midlife Crisis continues to inflict terror on Illinois residents.

Is it too soon to chant “Lock him up” to Judge Ellis?

@govpritzker.illinois.gov this is what you have ISP protecting while you give soundbites. Withdraw the IL State Police from Broadview.

Can I repost your photo of the Illinois State Police on here (with credit)? So many people do not know the full story of ISP’s complicity in this.

Illinois continues to illustrate taxation without representation. IL-15’s Trump Republican House Rep Mary Miller is declining to attend Meet the Candidate events.

Refuses to work. Refuses to bring money back to IL-15. Refuses to meet with constituents.

“Proposition MM aims to permanently fund the full program by further limiting tax deductions for filers earning over $300,000 a year. About 194,000 Coloradans in that high-income category would pay an average of $486 more in income taxes yearly, according to nonpartisan state fiscal analysts.”

From 1830 to 1850, 4,000 indigenous people died on the Trail of Tears due to the greed of the US government. 60,000 people were declared “not American”, forcefully rounded up, locked up, and displaced. The survivors were forced to new lands they were not born in and did not know.

History repeats.
