I think that’s exactly how he believes “law” works (or should work), as in whatever I say should be what the “law” is, so go ahead and change it to what I say.
Putting aside the merits of the TikTok legislation, Trump's argument here is lawless, contrary to the Constitution, and would set a horrendous precedent. Courts should not ignore a specific date set by Congress solely because the President-elect doesn't like the law. That's not how "law" works.

Daily reminder that the underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.
Anyway, AI has already stolen friends’ work, and is going to put other people out of work.

I do not think a political party that claims to be the party of workers in this country should be using it. Even for just a silly joke.

The key conflict that defines American politics is not over whether government should play a role in helping people. As these Trump supporters confirm, there is actually a broad consensus that it absolutely should! The real fault line is defined by who counts as “people” - who “deserves” help?

20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, so that they can re-sell it.

The law only ever serves capital.

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

Newsletter: Our digital lives are unregulated growth-hacked ecological disasters. The modern tech ecosystem's growth-at-all-costs mindset is actively harming billions of people, pushing them toward authoritarianism for profit. We must fight back.

Profound sense of unreality when you look at transphobes claims. I don't know why I find the case so striking, but the gap between the lovable band of awkward nerds who constitute the trans people I know vs the civilisation ending threat to life as we know it they're presented as is quite something.

“Debating” fascists won’t cut it anymore. It never did. There needs to be some way of turning off the taps that fund their hatred - by exposing their assets, like Daphne Caruana Galizia and other brave journalists and institutions did, then freezing and redistributing as many of them as possible.

Joy doesn't simply happen on its own. Instead, it's a skill we must consciously cultivate through daily attention and mindful focus. Like any worthwhile pursuit, discovering and maintaining joy requires our consistent commitment and active engagement each day.

Every time this has been tested it’s been a phenomenal success.

Give money to people who need money. Give jobs to people who need jobs.
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

Imagine instead of making money from ripping people off, underpaying them, and building up massive debts that you default on.

You instead made money by providing excellent service to people.

That's Socialism.
